the xpackage comes with the sports tuned suspension, low profile tires, bigger rims. my concern is: will the ride be noticeably more bumpy, and with the low profile tires, will the car be noiser and have more vibrations? also, with low pro tires, will it lose traction when it rains? is getting this xpackage better than just getting the standard IS model?

If you drive in snow and ice you won't be using that car.

I own a 2006 530i Sport . This model handles better than a Corvette I once owned it is just amazing for a fairly heavy sedan. I have had only one minor issue versus my previous 540 which was a maintainence nightmare. The 530i is a much sporter car than the Lexus but I would predict the Lexus would require less maintainence in the long run and have a higher resale BUT no way does it compare in terms of driving experience and manuverability. I am getting about 29 MPG on the highway and 20 in the city. I have had the car up to 145, it was rock stable and still climbing rapidly when I chickened out fearing a mega-ticket.

low profile tyres make the car more bumpy and are hard on the suspension
