Of course, a doctor would give you something.
However what I do, and taught my children..now 49, 48,33.
When I go to bed.....no TV, no radio.., make sure all my pillows, sheets, blankets are clean......Like, if you go to a hotel....ready made bed....to hop into.
Then, I like to sleep with nothing on......air my body out, just hate getting tangled on a night gown....
Then, I say to myself.....there is nothing I can do tonite...tomorrow, is another day to dwell or take care of it.
Clear your mind......then, from your mouth, take a deep breath.
and slowly let it go......keep doing that...not so deep though...
and you will fall asleep.....Do not think about, falling asleep.....
that will keep you awake.......Do not think of anything....Just how wonderful the nite is...it is your's.....No stress... that will come
tomorrow....Tonite, in you bed.....is yours......totally....no one can bother you.......try it.....it works.
If not, a doctor can give you, as I said earlier...something what
will help you.....even during the day......
Try not to worry.....Do other people know you worry? And what you worry about? No, I do not think so. So why worry?
When you wake up........make a list.....then, each day, take care of one or two......can not do it all it one day!
Hopes this helps you a bit.
My love to you......stress does make one tired....
You do not have to live with it.....at least not at nite.....

Well for now you can definetly drink some warm milk it works for me most of the time. I suggest you buy some Melatonin it is a vitamin that helps you sleep they cost about 25 bucks but you get plenty and its well worth it. When you are stressed light a candle and try to meditate just let go and let nature take its course, you can also buy some tea chamomile tea relaxes you and sleepy time tea is awesome. Try to get over this stress because it can cause more problems than sleep deprivation. Sleep Tight! The teas are made by Celestial Seasonings.

Whoever can definitively answer this question will rule the world, you know!
As for me, I'm a chronic, long-term insomniac (we're talking years, here). Currently, my doctor has given me a month of Ambien, which actually works.
After the prescription is used up, I'll be back to Square One.
The only real solution I can think of is: naps. Lots and lots of naps. Sleeping at one's desk; nodding off during business meetings; joining a carpool to catch some sleep while some other poor schmuck drives.
Yes, I know; that's no real solution.
All this talk about naps has me all worn out. I'm going back to bed.

Try reading in bed, but don't read anything too exciting as this will only stimulate your brain.
Also, try to treat the cause of what's stressing you so much. Yoga is said to be a good way of stress management.
Have a look at the links below and good luck with them.

Relax and switch off your mind. You can do this in a nuber of ways;
Music,
stretching excercise,
read,
meditate,
Which ever way you do it make sure that you are happy with it and just float into it naturally and you will sleep.
Worry gets you uptight, worry keeps you alert, ask yourself the right questions what can i learn? How can i change things? How can I do this better? Your brain will give youbetter answers and you will start to enjoy life again.

and to help get rid of the stress why not watch a good dvd, or your favourite tv program....something to take your mind of the stress.Or maybe go for a jog or bike ride earlier in the day, exercise would help. I think if you try get rid of/lessen your stress you'll be okay to sleep

reading a book helps, maybe a warm bath before bed too, I've found I sleep better after a long walk or something like that too,
try and take your mind off things, not so easyily done as said, but find a hobby or a distraction,

The stress doesn't help! Make a list of all your problems and how you're going to solve them. Burn some lavender oil in your bedroom and spray lavender spray around your bed. Music and meditation might help, and drink valerian tea.

Read a book and stress your eyes to hell or turn on the aircon to the coldest and wrap a blanket around you with some pillows around or sleeping pills (last resort).

Get a sleeping pills. You need a perscription for this usually as they are addictive. I'm also pretty sure that they are unhealthy, so don't do them all the time. They tend to really make people who take too much of them really sick.
