Oh dear.......this must be a really anxious time for you indeed.
Have you reported your dog missing to the police yet? If not, it's really time to do so.
Also, give the local SPCA, pounds, and animal shelters a call, to check if anyone has turned your dog in. If they don't have your dog, give them a full description of your dog, i.e. breed if applicable, height, length, age, colour, fur length and texture, tail, paws, and any other distinguishing features (e.g. missing tooth, colour of nose that's diff from other dogs, mole, etc etc) that may help the personnels identify it should it be turned in at any time. Another thing you can do is to paste posters, place notices into the letter boxes around your neighbourhood. A reward might be required as well.
When you do get your dog back, do spend some $ and get it microchipped in order to prevent future similar incidences.
You can also try going around the usual places you bring your dog, as well as any hiding places you know, including those in your house and back yard if you've got any. There're incidences when pets become stuck in favourite hiding places within the home, and don't get discovered till it's too late. Try calling out your pet's name softly and firmly in a friendly and loving way, not reproachful, as most probably, your pet'll be terribly frightened by this stage, not to mention hungry, and possibly injured. Never scold and punish at this point, as it'll only add to your dog's anxiety, and if it's really hiding, it might not come out at all.
Hope this helps, and really hope you find your furry pal soon.
Good luck.

This happened to me with one of my dogs 3 years ago.I know exactly what you're going through. I posted flyers with my cell phone number ,it had my dogs picture on there, and a offer for a reward if found.I posted them all over .Also in the paper I put a add for a lost dog and her picture , plus my number. I contacted all local police , humane societys , shelters, and road crews. When I had the chance I drove the areas of every sighting , and went to every sighting that I could . I can tell you she was scared ,terrified is more the word and woudn't come out.
Don't give up hope .Your dog needs you now more then ever.My thoughts and prayers are with you.

look, first of all dont panic.dogs sense danger and so nothing bad or dangerous might happen to your dog.ok,now you can take xerox copies of the way your dog looks like (his pictures) mostly people dont read the lost and found ads in the newspapers.your dog might know the way to your house and may have gone for an outing.dont worry he will be back.if all this doesnt work the medicine to your tension will be patience.

I'd go to the dog pound. Ask them if any dogs were picked up in your neighborhood. They keep all the descriptions of dogs. Then I'd look at all the dogs in the pound to see if he's there. But dogs will go for lonnnnnng walks with every intention of coming home. I now how worried you are and i wish you luck with finding him.
Try not to worry. He'll show up. =)

go by the animal shelter tommorow, and every couple days for atleast a week. I lost my cat several years ago and did everything you mentioned and lots more and on my 3rd trip to the shelter thank the kitty god, he was in adoptable pets. I found out later a lady picked him up and took him home. He was as homesick for me as I was for him and she finally took him to the SPCA to stop his crying! Don't give up, friends like him are hard to come by!

Does your dog have on an id tag? If you can afford it consider getting an id chip put in your pet. Sorry, hope that he comes home soon. If he's not fixed he may be out on the prowl!!!!! just keep an eye out for him.
