I now it is not easy fasting the full month, but why all the hostel? as I believe many of them would be in the execused catagory (sick, traveling...) having the Koran where revealed recently. Doctors , student , 9 to 5 jobs... were not knowing at that time.

Personally, I love fasting and feel very spiritual and energetic while doing so. My mind is very clear and so is my vision. During most, if not all, muslim countries the working hours are cut down during Ramadan. So you work 1 or 2 hours less than usual. I am not sure of the verse or the hadeeth, but if you cannot work because of fasting then you should not fast because work is sacred in Islam, especially if this will endanger the lives of other people, as you mentioned doctors, pilots, surgeons, etc. It does not make sense that an innocent person should die because the sugar level dropped down and the fasting surgeon could not concentrate and messed up! Pregnant women are allowed not to fast too for the sake of the baby.
Islam is flexible and is about what is in the best interest of people.
Allah knows best
Peace

Quite honestly if you live in a none Muslim country, it is pretty hard. What makes it harder is that no one around you is fasting and their routine is the same. You really can't ask your coworkers to do your work for you or your managers to give you time off when you are fasting. For me it's not really about food but about the lack of energy and especially in the afternoon. I really think that it's much easier fasting in a Muslim country because you know that everyone around you is going through the same thing not to mention the daily routine changes somewhat during Ramadan and allows people to have more time to rest during the fasting hours. For example in Saudi Arabia most stores close late afternoon and don't open until after Isha prayer but they stay open till about midnight.

Fasting away from religious part is very healthy as it helps the stomach to rest from working all year long it reliefs ur dijestive system plus all muslims ar doing it from the age of 7 or 8 so we got used 2 it we can do all our activites with no proplem working full time and even do extra time if u calculated it u'll find it very hard 2 do but 2 us its not cuz we stick 2 faith and thus what gives us the strength 2 carry on fasting.
