Generally speaking VB or Victoria Bitter - sold in more licensed premises in Australia than any other beer.
If you want a nice Local Brew - try James Squire - Amber Ale - available on tap in quite a few places these days.
DO NOT under any circumstances drink Fosters - I know it comes from the same vat and that it's supposedly a clearer- better tasting drink - but honestly - TRUE Australians don't drink it - that;s why so much of it is exported overseas.
Oh and bear in mind - MOST Australian Beers - regardless of their names - are actually LAGERS.

Tooheys New, Victoria Bitter(VB), Hahn light ice, Tooheys Old. Mostly All our beers are great. The ones I mentioned are the most popular. Cheers!

I'm in Australia at the minute & well....
Lager : Hahns Ice
Beer : V.B.
Altthough you can buy European lager, but pay through the nose for it. Don't know why, in England XXXX & Fosters are cheap...

Cascade. It is made down in Tasmania. It is the best beer I have ever had.

the best beer i had if you can find it is moo brew , next best is cascade made in tassie mmmmm best beer out these two or if you in melbourne vb but if you can find moo brew try it

Crown Lager is very nice.
Boags, Brewed in Tasmania is also good it has a nice crisp flavour.
