you aren't going to get a decent answer from Christians, they are going to feed you some mindless crap like "Man is responsible for sin because Adam ate the apple", or "God has a plan, we can not know of it"

For example, see snuggels answer below, pure mindless CRAP

If the all powerful God exists, what are the possible explanations for the the way the world is?

1. It is a great laboratory experiment.
2. It was created to entertain a sadist.
3. God is a rotten designer and this is an early prototype.

The Christians attempt to justify Man's behaviour by introducing the concept of free will. This fails to explain the suffering that is caused by natural disasters and the harshness of nature and ignores the fact that our parameters for our freewill were specified by the Creator.

I may not be the best person to answer this, being only marginally a christian and as much (or more) a nei chia taoist, but I see it this way.

If you created everything in existance, and could destroy and recreate it all with a word, what is the point of controlling it? It's much more interesting to let things and people take their own course. For the most part anyway.

It may not seem fair, but we don't exactly know what's waiting in the afterlife either. Perhaps debts are reconsiled, perhaps we cease to exist and that cancels all debts. Perhaps we face our karma and reincarnation. These are all possibilities, and if you think about it in the grander scheme, all are just from the point of view of the One that created us in the first place.

I've been asked hundreds of times why God allows evil to take place, and I have to tell you honestly that I do not know the answer—not fully. The Bible talks about "the mystery of iniquity" (2 Thessalonians 2:7, KJV)—and that's what evil is: a mystery.

But let me tell you three very important truths about evil that might help you. First, the Bible tells us that evil does not come from God, nor can we blame God for all the evils in the world. Evil comes instead from Satan, and it entered this world when Satan deceived Adam and Eve and caused them to turn against God. Both evil and Satan are real, and the two go hand-in-hand.

Second, the Bible tells us that someday all evil will be banished. The vast spiritual conflict between Satan and God that has raged from the beginning of time will be over, and God will be triumphant. Someday all evil will be cast "into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels" (Matthew 25:41, KJV).

Third, the Bible tells us that in the meantime, God can give us victory over evil. This doesn't mean bad things will never happen to us—but even when they do, we can know God is with us, and He will give us strength to stand against them. Isn't it better to face life's problems with God rather than without Him? No, we may not understand everything that happens to us—but when we know Christ, we know we are on the winning side. Why not commit your life to Him today?

Because what we think life is..Is not really what Life really is..This world is not really Important .It is a phase..
Those who have died in terror will be wiped clean of past fears and horrors..
All will be Judged according to their good works..believers or non believers can do good things..
The fruit of knowledge is the way for mans independence from God ,If you have children you hope with their own Free wills they love you and accept your guidance and not someone elses ahh yes free will to temptations..we try to heal ourselves cure our selves and theorize on how to live forever physically that is without a so called God..
I remember hearing the phrase Do not love the world as it is satans world...
From a 21st century view ..does one really think our energy in our very being dies when our bodies ends its span..
Evolution some say is all that Life is....Take note Evolution follows a predictable law ..Laws are expected and known.not by chance out of chaos .but it is rules of FIXED LAWS which has to be created or written,All things have to follow an order.To suggest, as some do, Things just happen..which means we should either not exsist or there should be chaos.Evolution too is a creation..
We still evolve after the physical death.I guess thinking about it now I can see what eternal death means. As we all know what eternal life means..
It is Us we,you and me that allow terrors and atrocities to happen.
What is the use of Free will and development of ouselves....if God Takes the elements of certain emotions from us ..we might as well be Zombies or robots..the more I Imerse myself into our science the more I believe there is a God..It really does become more Logical..
Its a good question ,And in great respect this is just my view and not in anyway an argument to your question.
Cheers ..

If God were to prevent such events it would take away the free will of the one who is sinning against Him. God loves us so much that He will not force us to love and obey Him. He wants our love to be genuine. The one's who do not repent WILL be dealt with in due time. It seems to me a bit arrogant when believers and non-believers (let's be honest, we all do this from time to time) expect God to work on our time table as if He is to adhere to the schedule we've set for Him.

Also, as far as God is concerned, the murdering of the Amish children in Pennsylvania is no worse than you or I telling a lie or taking a really nice pen from the bank. In other words, there is no such thing as a "big" or "little" sin. We all need the forgiveness of God to absolve our sins. And that is exactly what He has offered us.

Blessed Be

He is our saviour but these people believe in Satan in the beginning he made adam and eve and they sinned by eating a forbidden fruit if they did not do this then there would be no sin in the world and it shows there is a demon who is tempting people to sin instead of believing in christ they follow the un lawful path, this is why women have period pains, chil birth pains and men have what is called an adams apple.

Genesis

14 So the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this,
"Cursed are you above all the livestock
and all the wild animals!
You will crawl on your belly
and you will eat dust
all the days of your life.

15 And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,
and between your offspring [a] and hers;
he will crush [b] your head,
and you will strike his heel."

16 To the woman he said,
"I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing;
with pain you will give birth to children.
Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you."

17 To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,'
"Cursed is the ground because of you;
through painful toil you will eat of it
all the days of your life.

18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
and you will eat the plants of the field.

19 By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return."

Hey...hey! Lay of War and famine - they are two of my favourite horsemen. OK they get a bad press, but, once you get to know then they are alright guys.

Lets not just limit this to Christians - most of these atrocities occur in areas of the world where other religions predominate. Christian god can get a bit old testament at times. Guess the real answer is if god is "your" saviour then, I guess you need something to be saved from?

Try satanism - a much more liberal brand of religion....(bring your own knife)

The question isn't how could God allow it, it's rather how could we allow it.

It's not God who abuses the children or commits massive genocide or famine-- it's us. What makes us choose that type of behavior when we could so clearly choose to do what's right?

I know the obvious question to this is why did God create "bad" ppl who would commit such heinous crimes. But, the beauty of the human experience is our ability to choose what to do. If we didn't have access to good and bad, to right and wrong, selfishness and genorosity, then we would not be making a choice-- we would just be automatic, we would be robots, and completely limited. God gives us the ability to choose. He of course wants us to choose good, He wants us to choose to love and worship Him also, but it would be unfair of Him to make "the right thing" the only option available to us. If you understand..

So, for all those ppl who are abusing children, creating war, etc.. there's ppl who choose not to live that way. It's accessible to those that live in peace to do likewise, and to murder. All humans have the capacity to kill, in my understanding of psychology.. and likewise all humans have the capacity to love. It's a conscious (sometimes unconscious) choice that we make every day with our actions to do or not to do. As conscious beings with the burden of choice, we will be responsible for our actions. God does not intervene unless we ask, but ultimately we will need to answer Him as to the choices we made.

If God has offered you whatever you see including good and bad , right and wrong, ugly and beautiful, day and night. This dualism is the essence of life and that makes life colorful and interesting. But life is also a place for man to be tested. God has not placed us in cages, he's given us the vision and the code to tell right from wrong. There is a constant struggle between good and bad. It's just our free choice which side to take.
