i like my best friend but right now he is in some other place finishing his 12th. he has a girl friend out there, but she is damn stupid and i am sure they will not be continuing once he is back. i know him since a very long time and i am very compatible with him. he is going to be back in 6 months. what should i do? i sometimes feel very bad when he talks about his gf to me but i as well know that he can leave her for me. should i help him in his relationship? or should i be selfish enough to see what i like and to act accordingly?

Let him work on his own relationship. If he likes her enough to talk about her then something is going right for him. If you're a true friend you will let him make his own decisions. Don't be a homewrecker, it will only make you feel worse in the end. Just let him do his thing with his girlfriend and if it's meant to be with you and him when he gets back, then you'll get together, but don't force it or rush it, the results you will not like.

if he is really your best friend leave it alone. you will mess up all those years of friendship over a perhaps a few months of pleasure. trust me it isn't worth it. your passion or what ever will probably make him leave his girl, and you can make him yours but when its over it will take more than a boy friend.

besides he has known you how long and who is his girlfriend? think about it. you say, "she is so damn stupid...." but she is still his girlfriend.

if he isn't telling you this you really shouldn't assume it. if he is then that is even worse, cause she is still his girlfriend. what is gonna happen if you take her place, who will he cry to when he is fed up with you?

good luck

Only women label men as friends. Most men would never consider any woman "just a friend."

Tell him, you don't want to live the rest of your life wondering what might have been.

If you call yourself his best friend, learn to act like one. Your petty remarks about his "stupid" girlfriend only show that at the moment, you have no idea what friendship even means.

Go for it...If you really are best friends then it will either last forever or if you do break up you wont be bothered with it. If he isnt your best friend then you should go for it and then it wont matter so much. Think about it, if you dont go for it you will probably start hating him cos you are annoyed at yourdelf!
