no NO a thousand times NO!!!

You should contact the American Cancer society they have Navigators who can answer all your questions and relieve you of the myths and falsehoods you seem to believe.

Cancer is NOT contagious like the flu or chicken pox. It is sometimes caused by viruses or inflammation but some is Idiopathic.
A living cancer patient would be more likely to have antibody's that are helpful than to have harmful ones.
Do please contact the people who know the most about the disease... If you are treating a woman in your family like a leper
stop it. Your fears are unfounded and harmful. get informed.
the woman with cancer has enough to deal with without you being so misinformed and paranoid.

No.WTF?

EVERYONE knows that, probably even the two year old.
Cancer is not contagious. The treated cancer is in her body. It will be attacked by the chemo. The chemo drugs are in her body. It is not like radiation.

You need to be careful though, people undergoing chemo are very susceptible to getting viruses etc so they should probably be using different cutlery from everyone else, this is just for their own safety. Not necessarily for hygiene reasons. Be careful that no ill people come into contact with the cancer afflicted person.
Make sure that the food they are eating is prepared well and don't give them things like berrys which might have mold on.

No. Don't worry about that. Cancer is not contagious. When a cancer patient is getting treatment, it is the cancer patient who is at more risk from being around other people. Don't worry about the baby at all. Or anyone else in the family for that matter.

No.

In fact, it is just the opposite. A person with cancer who has undergone chemotherapy often has a compromised immune system. If a patient has a low enough white blood count than they have no immune system to fight off infection and diseases.

Patients undergoing chemotherapy watch their blood counts carefully and avoid crowds and people with colds, flu, and disease when their counts are low. Otherwise their lives may be at serious risk.

Cancer patients on chemotherapy can die from otherwise minor infections.

No. Cancer is transferred by heredity. If the baby is hers, then if it's a girl, it probably has a good chance of having breast cancer just because she's her mom. Cancer is totally heredity. Nothing else. It's internal. Not like a cold or the flu.

No. Cancer is not a communicable disease--it is not passed on through body fluids or the air. Even if the person still had cancer, all throughout her body, she couldn't "pass it on" to anyone.

When someone is going through chemo--all those drugs should be kept away from others, including babies, because they are essentially poisons used to kill off the cancer cells. That is also why mothers going through chemo are not allowed to nurse their babies.

Also when someone is going through chemo, his or her own immune system can be suppressed, making that person more susceptible to sickness and disease. That's why you often have to keep babies, small children, and anyone who is sick away from a person who is going through chemotherapy.

No you can't transfer Cancer. I think you are confusing that with what they may have told you during Chemo: Not to get too close to Babies with the Chemo Drugs in your body.

Cancer is never contagious.

But it's true that the first 2 or 3 days after a chemo session, the patient has to be careful with things like saliva, vomit and urine. After that she is fine! Please don't restrict yourselves more than necessary!

Talk these things over with your doctor or nurse.
