often kids learn their abc's, colors, shapes, and manners in preschool. should the goverment make it a law to go to preschool? or should the parents teach these to their parents?

Preschool can be good for children and help them start on the road to schooling, but I feel it should still be a voluntary thing and not forced. After all, they will be taught a lot of this at standard school anyway.

No, preschools are babysitting palaces and nothing more. A child of 3 years will retain very little knowledge if any at all. Kindergarten is for kids to learn abcs and preliminary knowledge of that nature.

I don't think preschool should be mandated by the government. I think it's the parent's responsibility to have their kids ready for school.

Kids should already know how to say their ABC's, count and color names before entering kindergarten that way they'll know the answers and will think school is fun instead of hard work.

We did without Preschool for many many years - maybe that was a better time for us all

Yes. It is a way of easing children into the routine of school. It's also a way for children to make new friends, and learn the fundamentals they need for grade 1.

Yes, but at the end of those 16 or so years of schooling they will be truly sick of school!
