i don't think you should lie to the guy but if it gave you the desired response then you did the right thing. some people can't take no for an answer, and that is ususally a big problem.

in short if he has issues with you rejecting him, end the friendship. some guys don't understand the , "i like you as a friend only." and if he can handle it just be honester the next time.

if you don't feel anything for him other than friendship, that should be good enough for him, (if he is truely your friend)..

you did the right thing. it wan't mean, you shouldn't feel bad.

you are your first priority, not him. he will live....

good luck

So you got him to back off...that was the objective right. Eventually though it'll come out that you aren't really seeing someone so you should really have a long conversation with him and tell him that you like him as a person but you're just not that into him as a boyfriend. If you drag him along it will wear you down and make you irritated...though brutal at times honesty and truth is the best route to go because there is no confusion and everyone knows what is going on

Of course YOU ARE A MEAN. You don't have to fall in love with the guy, all he asked for is a date. You could go out with him, have fun and keep it more like a friendly go outs than a date. It is you to be smart and turn the date in to a friendship. Or all you have to say to him is that you are not ready for a relationship. See, now that you said you are going out with another guy, and you said NO TO HIM, will make him wonder why, and that is why I said you are mean, because you are torturing the poor guy.

Or honestly... Is it that you are afraid to fall in love with him?

If he's not what you want don't play with his affection let go and he'll move on and find someone else dose want him and not hate you,who knows what the further might bring.
