Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament):
There are many stories of individuals who either pleaded with God to end their life, or who killed themselves, or who sought the assistance of another to kill them:

Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 contain two similar version of the Ten Commandments. Both Exodus 20:13 and Deuteronomy 5:17 appear in the King James Version of the Bible as "Thou shalt not kill." This obviously cannot be interpreted literally, because people continually kill plants and animals for food. It has generally been interpreted as meaning that one should not murder a human being, except in cases of self defense or warfare. Christians are divided over whether these verses include suicide. Religious conservatives tend to say that it does; many liberals believe that there are circumstances where suicide is morally justifiable.

Well, thou shall not kill can only refer to man. Man was given dominion over all animals and plants and killing them would be meaningless. So, if thou shall not kill then it means thou shall not take any human life and I would therefore believe suicide is a sin. But, the real question is whether or not the sin is pardonable by God?

In Mark 3:28-29 KJV Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

This states all sins are forgivable except for the rejecting of Christ. So, if suicide is murder and murder is a forgivable sin, then suicide should to be forgivable. Many believe however, Catholics for one, that you cannot be absolved of this sin because you are dead after you commit it. But, I truly believe that one who is about to commit suicide and begs for God's forgiveness before doing so will be forgiven by God.

Suicide is commited "by your own hand". Jesus was killed by execution by the Romans, at the urging of the Jewish clergy. .He did not seek their assistance to kill him. There was no defense he could offer and be true to himself. Many people have put their lives in harms way for a greater good; people still are. These are not suicides.

I am also curious why you put this under Mental Health. Freudian slip?

Jesus did not commit suicide. He allowed the Romans to execute him as prophesied in the Holy Scriptures to save humankind and to give everyone a chance for salvation, providing they were truly repentant of their sins. There are very few cases where suicide could be justified. However, forcing someone to live continuously suffering, without any hope of cure can be just as wrong.

No, he didn't. Jesus sacrificed himself. He doubted his destiny in the Garden of Gethsemini when he asked why his father had forsaken him but this was not suicidal thinking, rather a showing that he was both Son of God and Son of Man (ie he suffered from a moment of human weakness). This is the strength of his death, not only that he would die for us al but that despite being scared and afraid (as most people who know they are going to die are) that he went through with it and carried on, knowing that he would die.

Thou shall not kill refers to Humans and not to plants and animals. Suicide has many ramifications. The souls of these people goes to the spirit world for 500 years. Evil souls may possess another weak human being. These souls are used by Tantriks or who practice black magic to control and use these souls. So i advise no one to commit suicide

But seriously......what's your question? Are you asking if Jesus committed suicide? No, He knew that he was to die......but he didn't commit suicide. It was to fulfill God's plan. People should read all the scriptures instead of just one or two and then pray for the understanding. Instead they all try to analyze them themselves.

He did, I watched this documentary that Jesus deliberately caused trouble and knew he would of been killed or punished if he did this. I wouldn't blame the Jews/Romans for doing this, cause if someone was crazy in society, we would put them in jail. If someone was a threat to our society, they would be punished immediately!!!
