hen

Technically the hen came first. Although it didn't start out as the hen that we have come to know today. When life first started out as protozoic matter it started joining together to create simple celled orgamisms. These then over time developed in larger creatures which slowly evolved into what we would class as a chicken today. Therefore when the creature was finally named as a chicken... it is only natural that it would then produce offspring or... chicks... which come from eggs.

If the hen hatched from the egg, then the egg came first.

If the hen laid the egg, then the chicken came first.

So simple, yet, so complex..

The egg is best when fried over-medium, with salt & pepper and bacon and buttered toast. Mmmm... breakfast.

Chicken is best when smeared with BBQ sauce and cooked over an open flame with a side of rice and corn-on-the-cob. Mmmmm... dinner.
