it could be a bunch of different things. i have a blind cat so she cries out every night for us to make sure we're there....but i'm not saying your cat is going blind...it could honestly be a behavioral issue, an abandonment issue even. was she a rescue?
often cats cry out when they get old as well as their hearing descreases. i'd suggest taking her to the vet though and they should be able to help you out w/ some more suggestions.
in the meantime, why don't you pick her up or call her in to bed w/ you when she cries? she may just miss you or be bored. like someone else mentioned, a second cat could work wonders. my parents have a whiney kitty, and they just got him a kitten and he changed instantly....
good luck!

If this is at night when you are trying to sleep, keep one light on it will help, if the cat has no medical problems. Also some night lights around the house especially by the litter box will help. It is trying to tell you something. Are you feeding your baby canned food as well as some dry in between? Mine like some treats or crunchies at night. They get the munchies and hungry too at night. make sure plenty of fresh clean water. But I think you already do that so check with doc, no this is not normal.

Normal. Buy earplugs. Getting a second cat (as company for the first one) is a good idea.

Yeah its normal. They do that when they are in heat. Ive had like 20 cats. And they will cry like crazy, its sounds really ugly when they cry like that too. But its cuz they are in heat.

If she is old , she's scared of the dark like my cat. If she young and not fixed , get her to the vet to be fixed. She's in heat.

My cat does this too...mostly it happens if I try to shut him out of my bedroom.
He is lonely and does it to get attention.
Try keeping your cat awake in the day time and see if that helps.

Has she been fixed? She may be in heat and want some loving. My female cat did this until I had her fixed.

If she is not spayed/neutered, I would have that done; in any case, take the cat to the vet.
