Wine is all over the place in the Bible. Even Jesus drank wine IE when Jesus turned to water into wine at the wedding and the Last Supper. No it is not a sin
The problem becomes when a person drinks too much and becomes a drunkard. That problem even existed in the Bible and was considered wrong.
God's Word????? I am a Christian. The problem that exists though is that the Bible is man's interpretation of God's Word. That also counts many translations where we now know there were errors made in the translation from one language to another language. Not counting the books that were not included when the Nicea council decided what books to include in the Christian Bible.

When Jesus turned water into wine at Canaan, it is mentioned guests praised the quality of the wine that was served afterwards, which means they had already had some wine before. So I gather some of them must have been tipsy.
On the other hand, there are several condemnations of drunkards in the old testament, including a recommendation to have a drunkard and a glutton put to death in Deuteronomy 21.
So I don't even think drunkenness is a sin as such, if observed on the proper occasion. It is the condition of the habitual drunkard, a person who gives their life over to wine, which is a condition of sin. So I'm guessing binge drinking over the weekend would probably be seen as a bad thing, but getting tipsy on Christmas (not slobbering drunk, mind you) would be acceptable.

well I asked a religious scholar about this once.. I am arabic by the way and muslim, but curious about wine in the bible or all ancient religious writings. Im sure the bible has been translated through many languages and the true essense of the original wordings have changed according to the translators interpretations. Like poetry, the words mean different to different readers, but saying that.. what I mean is this.. Wine in ancient languages was the same as juice.. a sort of non alcoholic fermented grape or apple juice is/was a common drink back then. Muslims drink apple cider (non alcoholic).. So possibly the translator got the words mixed up.. possibly the intoxicant wasnt the drink they drank, but the more common non alcoholic grape or apple juice.. Because we all know,, any intoxicant is forbidden in most major religions.

Wine was a common drink and is mentioned many times throughout the Bible. Remember Jesus' first miracle, he turned water into wine at a wedding, so that the celebration could continue. The reason it was common is because the water was not always potable (safe to drink).
Alcohol as an evil in and of itself (rather than drunkeness) is more of a protestant idea.

No, wine is not something sinful. But God never encourages people to drink too much and do things that will make them regret later. If you read a letter Paul wrote Timothy, you will know that wine is actually good for our health IF we drink it in the right way.

Well you see, the argument is Jesus Himself (apparently) drank wine and wine seems to be the culture at the time as well.
But the Bible says, get drunk in the Holy Spirit, not on drinks (well to put it simply).
What you eat wouldn't defile you, but I guess it's easier to stay away from the temptation of drinking than it is to drink and not eventually get drunk.
Whereas in addressing the subject of sin, you can drink, commit adultery, lie, cheat, even murder all you like and it wouldn't be sin because you did it. It's sin because you did what God told you not to.
It's sin because you are rebelling against God.
That's all there is to it really.

Drinking wine is not a sin, Jesus drank wine.
Basically it says drink a little wine with food but don't get drunk.
There are many passages in the bible about both wine and drunkeness.
Proverbs 23
29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow?
Who has strife? Who has complaints?
Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?
30 Those who linger over wine,
who go to sample bowls of mixed wine.
31 Do not gaze at wine when it is red,
when it sparkles in the cup,
when it goes down smoothly!
32 In the end it bites like a snake
and poisons like a viper.
33 Your eyes will see strange sights
and your mind imagine confusing things.
34 You will be like one sleeping on the high seas,
lying on top of the rigging.
35 "They hit me," you will say, "but I'm not hurt!
They beat me, but I don't feel it!
When will I wake up
so I can find another drink?"

Obviously not a sin, Jesus himself drank wine and how about the wedding where he turned water into wine, so the party would go on. I would say God is pretty upstanding guy but some religions are trying to turn him into a stodgy old man.
