No, having two anti virus programs running together will clash and cause you problems. You only need one. Both of your choices are system resource hogs so which ever you choose will slow down your computer.
For good, free and recommended security programs, please go here http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/219333/an/0/page/0#219333
I recommend AVG as an anti virus, although eTrust's 12 month free trial is excellent (I'm using it!).
If you need other programs, go for Zone Alarm firewall, AVG anti spyware (formerly Ewido) and SpywareBlaster.
Click on the names in that list I gave you and it will take you to the official download site.
Please ensure that you keep them all updated for full protection.

I know all these other people say you can't have two antivirus programs because they will clash, but if you don't run them at the same time you will be fine. IOnce you run one antivirus software, it usally disables the other one. To make life simple stick with one anti virus tool. AVG i have to agree is a really great antivirus tool, plus you can get it free. Mcafee takes up a lot of room on the computer so i really don't like that on too much. Norton is also pretty good, and they offer updates constantly. Remember viruses aren't the only thing to watch out for, there is spyware too.

Ofcourse it's not ok
Because they will make conflicts with eachother and u're gonna have endless error messages and ur computer will restart up within 3 hours till u can use ur desktop,
i did it before and they made me regret so much because i hat to install windows once more,
but i recommed McAfee for you because it's more simple and easy and strong also as Norton,
u know,
Norton doesnt deserve this reputation.

Hello! ur situation is a dead no go, u definitely cannot have two protective systems on ur computer because they will make conflicts with each other and u're gonna have endless error messages and ur computer will restart up within 3 hours till u can use ur desktop,
http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showflat is a good site to check for protective systems
I recommend AVG, it's excellent (I'm using it!). it's not a trial by the way. Good Luck!

umm i don't think so.. both Norton and Mcafee, are junk .. and they cost. i know Norton, is hard on your comp.. when i did delete it, my computer ran a lot smoother.. i had hackers get in when i used both of them.. i really trust AVG. 2 do the job. and AVG. seems 2 protect my comp like a mean dog.. i've had AVG. about 3 years now and no more hackers.. give it a try, its free.. type free AVG. grisoft.com in your seach bar.. and if you don't like it, its easy 2 remove.. its not a trial..

Why do you want to do that Clark? Don't you have enough problems in your everyday life and you want to create more? No It's not OK and Don't DO it.
Both programs you mentioned are equally good and it is up to one's personal preference as to which to use.

no....only one should be installed so that the softwares wont overlap each others capacity to detect and remove viruses.
