In a situation where a officer becomes unruly and abusive, what right does a citizen have to personal safety? When you are being detained and/or arrested, and an officer doesn't appear to have mental stability, do you have the 'right' to physical protestation? Example, running or fighting the detention. Any examples or web resources? Thanks!

Check the laws in your area. There are laws on the books that state that a private citizen has the right to use force to protect themselves from a law enforcment official when they are totally out of control and that persons life is in eminent danger from the actions of the officer(s).

It may be your personal opinion that the officer is mentally unstable. That's fine. But if you get physical ie running or fighting the officer well then things will only get worse for you.

IF you choose to take the situation to the next level, IE resisting or being non compliant then you may not only end up in lock up but in the county hospital lock up. Or if you run then there will be lots of police/k9/helicopters looking for you. When you are found you will most likely still wind up in county hospital lock up especially after officer bow bow takes a bite out of crime ie somewhere on your body. You will be very sore and tired.

Also additional charges will be added by the officer and or officers involved in said chase.

You really don't want to go there do you?

IF you truly have concerns about an officer's mental state or conduct, then cooperate with him even if you don't agree with it. Then you can file a citizen's complaint.

No one has the right to resist arrest, even if the arrest is unlawful. That is for the courts to decide. By resisting you only add further charges to your booking sheet.

Mental instability? I doubt it. But if an officer displays these symptoms you should notify his superior. Be very detailed in you description of the circumstances and his actions.

You can only use physical force if your life is in immediate danger. Same rule applies in every situation. Otherwise you have to use channels. From the time the bubble gum machine goes off (flashing lights on his car) to the point when he/she says, "Ok, you can go." consider yourself under arrest. Recording devices are quite nice to have around. PDA's have one button record function, cell phones with cameras have video capability, etc., These can be used as evidence against verbal abuse, physical abuse etc., but for life threatening situations, you are your first line of defense.

the country is equipped on concepts of freedom & equality appropriate? has a tendency to look down at much less cutting-factor countries, appropriate? How is it any diverse than any of the 'undesirable' international places if "and Justice for all" in ordinary terms ability on a %. & pick form foundation? What i'm asserting is that the regulations of the land ought to stick to the two to all & be enforced the two for all, which is composed of travellers to the country regardless of their status. Now, while a individual is pointed out as an unlawful, they could desire to get the boot, no ifs ands or buts approximately it. Will illegals be much less probable to document? actual. between the probabilities they take breaking the regulation is being exploited & in the event that they're too afraid to come again forward as a results of fact of deportation, too undesirable. My situation with this? prepared crime profiting & getting extra advantageous off the backs of illegals. each and all of the extra reason to do away with the situation because it weakens the criminal device & society around the board. Immigration & illegals are not as undesirable a difficulty in my united states (Canada) as yours, yet we've been according to comparable principals & we are taking off to mirror your difficulty like maximum different traits that start up on your united states. My opinion is according to what i think of we could desire to continually be doing here & what i understand approximately your subject down there. BTW: I additionally discover it offensive that they are calling this human trafficking. the individuals volunteered for this trek & it does not look appropriate to have them use a term that inspires photos of abducted electorate & different innocents being bought into the intercourse commerce. happy that they could use a hefty cost on the smugglers, yet nevertheless, the human beings that have been "trafficked" are actually not sufferers by way of any stretch of the mind's eye.

You have a right to protect yourself from anything or anyone. From San Diego to New York law enforcement officials have been arrested for robbery, rape and murder.
Avoid situations when you cannot defend yourself from anyone.
