Is that bc it's instinctual (so no predators sneak up behind them?) I was just wondering bc ours flips his tail all the time while he eats.

Well, then he must be happy quite a bit, bc he's flicking his tail all the time and he comes running like a dog if I call him. He's too cute!

It's perfectly normal. Different tail flicks and facial expression indicate different moods and thoughts.

Tail flicking during meal times might indicate "stay away from my food" or simply pleasure :)

My cat does that all the time, he even flicks his tail in time to the music when I play on the piano. :)

Sam flicks his tail because he is so dang proud of how great a tail he has. He just feels sorry for us tail less people in his home. Grinz

He's probably just very alert. This doesn't necessarily mean he's agitated.

i thin it is instinctual, so that they can feel if something is close to them, or is going to attack
