Yes, I have!
I doubt that there is any thing that can spare you pain when a loved one dies!
Could it have been avoided? That's possible! The individual must come to terms with those issues that push them to suicide!
Some family members tend to take the fault of the suicide! This is wrong! People have their issues and there is no way that you can reach inside of them and take them away! More often than not the person who is thinking of suicide tries to place the fault on others! But, others can not be responsible for what they do!

No, but my son wanted to. Luckily I found him just in time and together we have moved forward from there. He has told me that there is nothing that I could have done or said to stop him other than when I found him..Since we have been to a psychiatrist together he now understands the repercussions on family and friends. At the time a suicidal person can't think of anything but their pain and how to stop it. Unless you find them in time, you have to accept that there is nothing you can do.

Yes, a cousin. However, he didn't leave a letter. If we could've avoided it, I really don't know. Suicide always hurts everyone else that's been left behind. It doesn't matter how they do it. Just knowing that they took their own life hurts.

Yes I have had a family member kill himself. It would have made it easier on the hole family if he had just spoke up and said he was in need of help.....now I am watching over his mom and dad and brother and hope it will not kill any of them. It is the worse way for any one to loose a loved one family and friends. It is like they tried to hurt everyone they knew. If this might be a thought you are considering, PLEASE HEAR ME, it is not the way to go. Talk to some one please. If you have lost someone then again talk to someone - even me.

no it still sucks. i did not even know the kid very well, he was a younger distant cousin of mine, but he killed himself after he got into a fight with his mother and sister over the phone. he was only 13 at the time, he would now be a freshman in college. I think about what he did every day and wonder how could it have been so bad

My uncle blew his head off while he had cancer. I can't imagine, but I understand. My former best friend, Lynn, lost her daddy to suicide. I saw what pain was then. He family suffered when her dad killed himself. I met a man last week who said his wife killed herself. And I met a very old lady whose very young neice had killed herself. Sixty years separate them. Now it's more than just time that keeps them apart. I kept thinking...even as old as the old lady was...this heartache will follow her to her grave. That was the sadest part.
