Javier is a very masculine hispanic name and very popular in Mexico and Spain. It is pronounced: (hah-vyer) and sounds beautiful when pronounced correctly. Javier is the spanish form of Xavier which is pronounced:(Zay-vee-ur) but anglo saxons like to pronounce the "X" and just changing the whole name altogether! It's plain ugly when you hear sportscasters say it that way, it gives me the creeps! So I vote for Javier, like the popular singer in Mexico: Javier Solis.

Xavier. The name is more unique, and less used than Javier. Also my favorite letter is X. My son's name starts with a X. Xenon, in old greek it means stranger.

Javier Solana, ex-Secretary General of NATO. associates with normal things and make this name more international than Xavier, I think.
