Sure you can! Add a little bit of flour to the potatoes (not much -- a tablespoon or so, tops), a little minced onion, and some green pepper, if you like them.

Plunk into a skillet in which you've already got some melted butter or margarine, and fry the mixture over medium heat. When it's brown on one side, use a spatula to carefully flip it over and brown the other side. (It doesn't matter if it breaks when you flip it, just so that both sides are sorta brown and have crispy bits.)

You can add some bacon bits or ham to the potato mix, if you want. A little bit of sharp Cheddar is pretty good, too, but don't overload the mixture. And if cholesterol is no object, you can serve the spudcake with a drizzle of cheese sauce.

Or you can form the potato mix into patties, fry them, and serve them with eggs and bacon, ham, or sausage. Good stuff, and a nice change from hash browns!

Here's how my granny does it. Form the mashed potatoes into a round 1/2 inch thick cake with your hands. Melt some butter in a nonstick fry pan. Fry on one side until really golden brown, flip over and brown the other side. Voila, tatercakes. You can also put season salt or other seasonings in them or on them. They make a tastey good breakfast.

Yes! Being a mother of 9 nothing goes to waste. Just add whatever you like...cheese, bacon, left over vegies and an egg to hold together and fry in butter/margarine or just spray a little olive oil on a fry pan and cook away...Just make sure the mixture isn't sloppy...must hold together like a rissole. YUM!

You can fry it. It gets runny usually. try buttering a pan and put the spuds flat on the pan so it gets crusty.press to 3/4 inch thick and turn when brown and brown again. like a pancake. when crumbeled it is OK.

Add a bit of flour, some strong tasting grated cheddar cheese and beat in an egg. Make into patties and fry (preferably in dripping) until cooked through.

Yes. It's a potato patty. Mix a little egg in with it for extra protein before frying it up. You can also add different seasonings to give it a some flavor. Otherwise, without the gravy, it's a little bland.

That would be lovely.
Mix an egg into the potatoes; shape into patties and fry in hot melted butter until browned on both sides.
