it is still the safest way to travel. i have flown over a hundred thousand miles in my life and i have never been hijacked but i suppose it is possible. the flights i have been taking are long flights across country and oceans. havent crashed before either. compare that to the number of accidents on the roads the answer of safety is simple. airport security is a whole different story though. i get the homeland treatment each time too. pulled off to the side and checked closely. they say it's random but it's profiling. but it's fine with me really i leave time to do it and if it means there are less chances for things happeneing on the plane thats cool. flying is safer by a long shot. but remember, life also includes bad things happeneing to us all.

Traveling by airplane is safer than driving by car, statistically speaking. You are more likely to get in a minor fender bender in a car than you are to die in an airplane. With the security measures at the airport, No one can get onto an airplane that would be considered dangerous. As long as security does their job and everyone that works around the aircraft follows the proper procedures, then it is impossible to die in an airplane, short of an act of God.

aeroplanes are well secured these days both mechanically and secturity concerend wise.
all planes are well maintained after each take off and landing.
except mid air traffic congestion you can be rest assured to fly.
unless you have any altitude fear you can travel safely and comfortably
