Will an islamic scholar justify why the koran tells muslims not to have/share a meal with buddhists/hindus/aethists .
The reason given in the koran is that we are not people from the book ( koran, bible and torah ). What is that supposed to mean ? Muslims who are ignorant of this teaching should refrain from answering this question.

People of the Book means Abrahimic religions and they share Abraham as their common father and supposedly the worship his God so it is their common God. The others do not worship the same God or may be no God at all.

What's wrong with that? Many people of all faiths are a bit ignorant. I'm not wanting to offend anyone, but when I sit down to eat I'm going to pray and I hope that no one would be offended of that. I'm sure that there will be Muslims in heaven. Bad Muslims who kill, obviously don't take God's commandments to the heart. 77 virgins in heaven is a bit too much for me to believe for someone who kills others. As far as I know I hope that the law doesn't take away prayer before mealtime in public places cause the Atheists seem to get offended ALL THE TIME.

I have read what you are talking about before many times , it is meant that in the old testament(deuteronomy I believe) certain jewish laws applied to the types of food eaten which excludes pork, and jewish people refrain from pork as well ....there is a certain way that muslims kill the animals they are very specific rules about how they are to be killed. i know that in the Quran it is describing non vegetarians, and people who perhaps might eat something like pork or carrion or other meats not allowed or killed in a non "HALAL" manner that they shouldnt dine with...it has nothing to do with the people but what they are consuming. any people from any religion may dine with a muslim, but a muslim cannot partake in food that is not Halal................................ps edit saudi arabia has a KFC where the chicken is Halal.

the people of the book have been commanded not to eat pork and drink wine.

"And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you".
"Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you."
[Leviticus 11:7-8]
Pork is also prohibited in the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy
"And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass."
[Deuteronomy 14:8]
A similar prohibition is repeated in the Bible in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5.

The Bible prohibits the consumption of alcohol in the following verses:
a."Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging; and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise."
[Proverbs 20:1]
b."And be not drunk with wine."
[Ephesians 5:18]

The other people do eat pig. according to Islam, because pork is unhygenic, we do not want to.......... how shall i say........... get the 'germs' to the muslims. because buddhists/hindus/aethists cook pig and Muslims are not allowed to eat it. Muslim will not know if the plate/pot is properly washed or not. In some indian/buddhist families, there pigs in the kitcehn they poke their noses in the food where they should not. that is why muslims are forbidden to share with theim.

but if muslims want to invite them over, they can.

You misundertsod. We muslims are not forbidden to eat with you. We can eat with you any food except meat as you do not slaughter animals in the Islamic way. People of the book are exception as their religion originate from same source like ours, so we are allowed to eat their meat. That is all. I am a muslim and I eat with many budists and hindi every where.

I haven't come across such incidence in the Quran, in fact
muslim only prohibited to take certain food but not to refrain from
sharing meals with non muslim.

Non-Muslims are allowed to eat/dine with Muslims. As far as eating pork, just to remind Christians that in the bible itself it says that they should avoid eating pork. Why they don't, it's their business, but the three major religions forbid the eating of any pig ingredients.

I'm afraid there's a bit of a disconnect here.

The iftar of the period of Ramadan is one where the true muslim must embrace and invite all his neighbours as friends.

But that the Muslim has hatered for all non-muslims is another story.

According to the Qu'aran, all non-believers are "khaffr" or "dead people".

Go figure that out.
