A lot of programs you install on your computer secretly install other programs with them that make ads show up on your computer. Ad-Aware gets rid of the unwanted ad programs.

I use Ad-Aware all the time. The free download just scans for and removes all spyware and adware. I believe it also removes a couple of viruses. I suppose if it were to remove the spyware that was causing the popups (porno commercials) then it would also prevent that. You can purchase a better version of Ad-Aware that scans and monitors your computer continuously.

Ad-Aware / SpyBot S&D / Ewido are some spyware cleaners.

To block porn ads while browsing, either you can use ZoneAlarm Pro or better still, Use Mozilla and Adblock extension.

The Adblock extension for Mozilla is fully customisable popup as well as inline ad blocker. Another extension Adblock.G.Updater can keep its filterset updated monthly and you dont have to see an ad ever again. Adblock can also block Flash ads. If Adblock is installed, you can right click on any ad-image and choose "Block images from"

It supposedly checks your computer to see if there's any popup ads or virusses..but i've used it before and the list always seems to get longer and longer. U end up having to remove the same viruses over and over. I don't think it's no good for me coz my com did start acting crazy and die on me after that, but i know a friend who still uses it.
