I am soon to take a flight and I want to bring a couple of my favorite local sodas with me to share with friends. I have heard of shampoo and what-not exploding in CHECKED LUGGAGE (not carryon). But this has never happened to me. These drinks are not as carbonated as a regular soda. I plan to put them in plastic ziplocks just in case, but if they are sure to explode then I won't even bother. Does anyone have any experiences?

Where are you going that they won't have soda's? Some deep, dark jungle area?

Best to check with the airline. I have taken water and the bottle looked like it was about to erupt - the bottle expanded and bubbles fill the water.
Why dont you just mail it over, it less handle for a few bucks.

I would say look as natural as possibly like you have nothing to hide. Explain your reason for wanting and having some soda and maybe they will let you take them as a carry-on. Or have them mix up the sodas and have you drink one at random proving that if it were to have a bomb in it you would have surely been poisoned or something like that.

should be OK fluids UNDER PRESSURE are the ones that burst
check with the airline tho see if the cargo bay is pressurized - if not DON"T DO IT ( a pressurized cargo bay is equivalent to cabin pressure - but not knowing what you are flying in ( ASK THE AIRLINE )
AS FOR THE BELOW - NOT GOING TO HAPPEN IN THE US
no sealed containers with liquid - period

Just to be orry on safe side put them in your carry on where cabin pressure is stable unlike in luggage compartment
