Why don't I photograph well? I'm not saying I'm a 10/10, but I'm not ugly, I'm thinking it has something to do with lighting, my camera, or my hair style. I notice in digital pictures my jawline or hairline kind of look weird, or not defined. Most of the pictures I take are in my house. I've tried different lighting etc, I just can't figure out what it is, maybe 1/20 pictures look decent.

sometimes people just arent very photogenic.

other than that - for some tips on lighting (which can REALLY help out)...

dont use the flash onyour camera. it will wash out the contours of your face and jaw and make you look flat and 10lbs heavier.

instead... try soft lighting, and angle it fromt he side. daylight or sunlight coming inthrough a window is nice. if you are taking pictures of yourself, try truning slightly with each shot until you find a good angle for the light. trust me,itwill make a huge difference.

Lighting from the top generally ALWAYS looks bad. i would say that your best bet would be to try the window thing. you can try going outside inthe sunlight as well - the best times for this is when the sunis first coming up or inthe evening... that way you avoid the top lighting :). also, a cloudy day provides a filter against the sunliight which works really well for taking pictures.

something else that may help about your jawline - a little trick is to push your tongue up into the roof of your mouth while taking the picture. your tounge is attached to behind/underneath your chin and when you lift it, it will definitely help you minimize the "double-chin" look. or it will just help your jaw look more defined if you dont have a double chin. :)

hope this helps!

Just recently, I found an old picture. I have very few any more. No pictures of my late parents or my lifetime friends and experiences (exhusbands punishment) I opened a box and found a photo of me in my First Holy Communion dress. I remember posing for it out front of our apartment building. I remebered how proud I was and how dressed up I felt. You never got to wear all white, I think immediately following the photo, I was duck taped to a chair so I'd stay clean. I felt'holy" that day. Boy, things have changed. ps If you have someones photos, return them, They are somehow very important. Good question Star 4 you

I totally know what you mean.....some are just naturally photogenic..while others arent. If you arent pleased with your photos....then you should work on your angles/poses. Its not necessarily the lighting..cuz you cant control lighting at all places.

Look at all your pics, is there a specific one you think you look best? Recreate that angle and that smile in front of a mirror. Just practice and find "your best angles"...slightly to the left or right, chin a little up or down....head a little tilted. You'll see what i mean..just practice. Good luck! :)

Most people don't like to see there own image. They have learned to pick out each and every problem.
Rather than looking at your own pix get friend or two that you can trust (to tell ya what stinks), get there opinion.

I feel the same way about myself, not real photogenic. I don't know why.

Okay, if you don't look very good on camera, chances are you don't look to great without a camera. Don't blame other things....
