Yes. It's obvious. We have free will, but they can still try to influence us. Sorry to hear that your brother chose bad over good. Too bad most people can't see them. Those poor people have to carry the guilt because they bear the responisbility of 100% of the sick ideas that pop into their heads instead of 99%.

It is called trials and tribulations...Every one faces them...Some of our trials and tribulations are good and some are bad If they are bad they are not of God if they are good they are of God .If they have any wrong in them at all it is of evil and is of Satan....You have to be careful what YOU allow into your life because what you allow in your life YOU will get the cause and effect from it...For your question own is demons real yes and you need to talk to your Preacher about that he will teach you what it is you need to know...but always remember this if it is BAD it is not of God...God bless you ...

they do follow people and influence them but they cant touch you because God doesn't allow it to happen ,thats not the Devils territory only Gods. So don't worry they cant hurt you only if you let them.
