Hello. The first thing that I would like to recommend is that you take your niece to a doctor IMMEDIATELY. Because this is not normal at all.
As stated above, osteogenesis imperfecta may be a cause....OI is a inherited disorder whereby the collagen in the bone is disorganized and hence does not provide the usual tensile strength that bones have. Usually there's a family history of this disease.
Other causes that may be possible include fibrous dysplasia of the bone, multiple bone cysts, abnormalities in the calcium metabolism, kidney problems leading to renal osteodystrophy and many other metabolic and primary bone disorders. Without examining the child or running some tests, there is no way to tell which one it is, so I would really really recommend that the child gets seen by a qualified paediatrician.
I hope all goes well.

Well from what I've been told by a doctor, a baby's bones are very pliable. So most accidents may cause bruising, but rarely cause breaks. If a bone is broken, something must have hit her very squarely, and very hard. Which is why your niece is probably going to be watched closely. Has anyone else had contact with the baby? It is very likely that someone has hurt her on purpose.

There are some congenital circumstances that would make your toddler services to breaks. yet I could desire to ask your self whether this befell a year in the past and you haven't any longer had anymore broken bones and you're exceedingly particular the stated injuries could be attributed to falling on a similar time as keeping a toddler that replaced into tightly wrapped...why are you asking this question? in case your toddler is now a year and 3 weeks previous and you in basic terms had the single "accident" why are you asking approximately tension factors on a toddlers bones now?

Baby's bones are very ply-able...they do not break easily. The older we get the more brittle our bones become and can break more easily as we do get older. A baby's is not easily broken. I have been taught this information in my career training.

There is a rare bone disease that makes bones as brittle as glass which could be the case. The disease was featured in the movie 'Unbreakable' with Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson...

My daughter fell down some steps many years ago and broke her rib. I never knew the pain she really felt when she screamed for weeks until I broke a rib in a wreck. Oh the horrible pain for weeks. Please make sure the baby gets checked and gets pain medication

yes this can happen, take them to a doctor and they will get you the right medication to get your babies bones strong, or they will tell you what needs to be done. Good luck

There is a condition where this happens almost spontaneously. No injury or bruising. May want to bring this to the docs attention and have him look it up.
