Just wondering about the painting Soint Catherine Dominating the emperor Maxentius by Cluadio Coello.?

I was wondering if anyone could offer and resources or guidence to the meaning of this painting. I am wondering why she is standing over him if in fact he beheaded her for converting his people. Any help woul dbe wonderful.

Perhaps you can gain access through the school.
