I am in search of a new car and I am torn between the two. A friend told me not to get the scion because they are due for a new design and the price will go down if that happens and the honda civic well is it too much for it's price?

I hate both cars so from an unbiased point of view.

I would go with the Scion TC. Sport Compact Cars had it as one of the top 8 buys for under $30k. I've heard nothing but goods things about it for the price and it's supposed to have replaced the Celica as Toyota's sports car.

As for the Civic, it's a Honda so you know it's reliable and will last a long time. But i'm not thrilled with the theft rate on Hondas.

i might want to flow with the Civic by using extra constructive interior. I had to edit this in difficulty-free words to inform you--in case you probably did not--that Scion is by technique of Toyota. In Japan, there is no Scion variety. those Scions you spot in the line are badge Toyota in Japan. both manufacturers are solid. notwithstanding those days there have been problems with Hondas. Honda has continually had a transmission project. I somewhat have a 2005 Acura TL and feels like they not in any respect fixed it. Plus there's a hugh bear in mind on 2005 Honda/Acura fashions because of engine issues. presently there's a regulation in advantageous condition adversarial to Honda for his or her faulty mileage counter that they delivered and use of their vehicle from some business business enterprise. nevertheless there have been recent Toyota issues besides, yet no longer on the Scion variety. very last bear in mind for the TC replaced into for the 2005 variety year.

Honda's retain their resale value over the long term. They rate very high with consumer reports on the best used cars you can buy. If you are planning on buying another car in a year or two than it doesn't matter, but if you'd like to keep the car for a while, always Honda.

Honda Civic is a better value and when you sell it most people will look for civics than for Scions.

honda's are the best for lasting a long, long time. i once drove a honda that was 15 years old, over 210K miles... original engine and transmission. and i've heard the same from many people.

Go with the TC.
Remember it is a Toyota and how many Toyotas do you see on the road?

It is a better car in general.
