that sounds like the way it was when I was growing up. My sister used to ask me to make food because I could make a dinner out of ketsup. One of my favorites was boiling pasta then when it was done I would put it in a skillet with butter, garlic salt, parmesan cheese and onion if we were lucky. I still make it and it helps me think of the good times with my sister.

Well, my mother did go to the grocery store, regularly every week, but when she wasn't there to cook during the day in the summer, I would make me a peanut butter, mayonnaise, banana, and potato chip "sammich". Most people go "Yuk" but don't knock it until you try it. My sister-in-law likes the Top Ramien noodles and putting in an egg while they are cooking (since you were talking about egg noodles).
Maybe you should go to a culinary school!!

My mum always had and still has food in the house. Even when she was not there to cook she would make sure there was lots of "instant" type food, kraft dinner, cup-a- soup..sandwich fixings...
groceries came before bills. You need food to live, telephone and cable..etc.. could wait.

My mum could not keep enough food in the house when I was a teenager. I would go eat a buffet restaurant every day to get my fill of food.

We always have rice (uncooked or cooked). So, I fixed egg fried rice or fried eggs with instant noodle.
If we didn't have egg, I would just have instant noodle.
