Its a matter of high archy and pecking order,,,,,, The military is controlled by the political faction and the political faction is owned and controlled by the corporate sector ,,,,,, It's the corporate sector that is in true power in this country not the political leadership ,,,,,The political leadership is very corrupt ,,,, so thats why most of our political people are bought and owned by the corporations ,,,, Wars cost money and the corporate sector has ALWAYS got their eyes on areas with a potential money making capability ,,,,, So when things start getting ugly then the corporate/political system starts gearing up to add fuel to the fire or escalate the situation ,,,,, Political people are above the law ,,,,They established legislation to make that a fact,,,,, and the people in the corporate sector are totally unreachable ,,,,,The dollar is very powerful ,,,,,, So when mistakes are made some one has to take the fall in order to appease public opinion ,,, it's usually a middle man that has no control over anything or some one that hasn't quite made the grade yet ,,,,,, Mostly military people ,,,,,, Look at Oliver North ,,,, Look at Husband E Kimmel or Walter Short ,,,,,,Or LT Callie ,,,,,,Billy Mitchel ,,,,Patton,,,, MacAurthor the list is endless ,,,,, these are just a few of the military people in our history that had to take a nose dive because of one reason or another ,,,,,,, I have my own experiences too ,,,,,,, All spending three years and two months in Viet Nam as a special forces operative got me was spit ,, ridicule ,, insults ,, rocks ,, violence,, and all kinds of other vile crap when I returned from overseas ,,,,,, Thank God the trend today is to thank the military personel for what they've done and not revile or disgrace him ,,,,, But like todays military ,,,, The Nam Viet was just following orders too,,,,,No one realized that then and allot of people still don't realize it now ,,,, No one wanted to be there so contrary to public opinion we weren't the war mongers we were made out to be ,,,, The corporate/government system made untold millions off of that war in Viet Nam and the bigger percentage of that money went right in to corporate/political pockets,,,,,The same pockets the money being made from this war is going ,,,,And the war in Viet Nam only cost 58,326 Americans dead and untold thousands wounded or mamed ,,,,,And God only knows how many civilian lives were lost ,,, ,So if you think about it with the crporate/political mind ,,, it was certainly cost effective ,,,, The Nam Vet doesn't have all the benefits other veterans do either ,,,, It was never officially declared a war ,,,,, It was only just a police action ,,,,, That does make a difference ,,,, Just ask any politician ,,,, They'll tell you ,,,,,,The Republican party doesn't believe in abortion ,,,, But what they do believe in is raising a crop of children that will grow up and become potential cannon fodder in a future lucrative war ,,,, Children to them is like money in the bank ,,,, Where would our corporate/political system be if people just all of a sudden stop having babies ? ,,,,,,,,, So to your question as to why the members of the military suffer because of bad policy or decission making ,,,,,I'm sorry but according to policy,,,,,, you are just going to have to realize,, understand ,, accept ,, adjust ,,and live with the fact that political people don't have to take the fall for bad decissions simply because of who they are and that they are above the law,,, I mean most of the decissions weren't made by them anyway ,,,,,but by the corporate leaders,,,,who,,,, like I said earlier are virtually untouchable ,,,,And like I said earlier,,,,,, the dollar is VERY powerful,,, So who else is left to suffer in the system that doesn't work and doesn't matter if it works or not ?,,,,, The Billy Mitchels ,,,,, The Walter Shorts ,,,,, The Oliver Norths and anyone else in their positions ,,,,, Think about it and bone up on your history ,,,,,,, It's filled with crap like this ,,, you just have to look for it ,,,,, Hey ! ! take care ,,,,,,, Yoda said all this ,,,,,,,

I worked at Ft. Mead during part of Nam, and there was a lot of that. It was stupid then, as it is stupid now. Because these Wars are equally stupid.

Im a military brat, long removed from a military realm, but I can say that I believe that this particular problem happened when war planning moved to the Pentagon and the office of Homeland Security was established.

What Generals had to say was being viewed by a different set of people than in the past. People who wanted to see intel that would support their supposition, and who had little to no interest in hearing any intel that conflicted with their supposition.

Intel professionals quit and retired, wrote books. It all went dogma, Wing and a Prayer time....and so it still goes.

I am sorry that you have ever felt that way. I have always felt that those people that have been angry at the military were really quite ignorant. They are obviously those that never served or have no idea just how little control over your own fate that you have. They are extremely ignorant pups.

As one who was once there, I can tell you that the vast majority of people that I know, know that no matter what, we should support our troops. If we have a problem with anyone, it is with the politicians. Anyone half educated in the ways of the world knows that the military forces are simply a tool to be used by the government, and we are just out there doing what we were told to do. I hope you keep professional, and do your best to educate those who are saying such foolish things.

The people who demonstrate against the war are not holding you and all military men responsible. We are demonstrating to keep you from being killed for a needless war that is really a "conflict". War is when countries attack countries. That is a different story. We want this conflict in Iraq to end for your sake mainly. I cry every day for the military in Iraq or wherever they are because they are being forced to risk their lives for no reason whatsoever. Any enlisted men who don't agree with this war should express themselves. Believe me we all know that you are just following orders. We know you have no choice. We are for you!

well, they don't understand how the US government works. Citizens vote for politicians, polticians decide on a war, and the military personnel do what they're told...

technically, the protestors are responsible for sending us off to war...

I agree. I was in the first desert storm, but besides the targets we make for the war, I got out when Clinton took office because he said the American people wanted defense budget cut, well instead of cutting weapons or other spending he cut military personnel pay.... It sucks but I am proud to have served and you keep your head up. I am proud of you.

Because the military is owned by the governement. Yeah I know ,people say some dumb stuff, I think it's lack of knowledge on their part not to know that the governement pulls all the strings and that the military is just following orders like how you would follow orders from your boss.

Military members deserve to suffer. They should all be arrested and sent to prison with the rest of the murderers. Soldiers know they will be killing innocent people and they sign up for the army anyways. So do not blame it solely on the politicians, although it is their fault as well.

I COMPLETELY AGREE! my husband is in the service, currently deployed to the middle east, and people bi*ch about the president, but don't support the troops, they think they can just 'quit' and come home.

i think the military should get paid at least 100k a yr, cause donald trump wouldn't volunteer to go to iraq to fight against the terrorist, so we should pay our miiltary more cause they do it willingly to die for us, people they don't even know, but care about.
