Nothing major, just wondering what kinds of pop or tonic or club soda are good to mix with scotch whiskey. Not looking for mixed drinks.

If it helps the brand is Glenfiddich special reserve and its Single malt.

If it's a good whiskey then you should ONLY mix some cold water with it. anything else just kills the taste of the whiskey. Look at the whiskey after you mix in the water and you'll see the molecules dissapate....this allows you to actually taste what you're drinking.
If its one of the cheaper brands then put coke it...it'll taste better than the whiskey.

I have bar tended many times and usually it is mixed with just water or club soda - that is to a real scotch drinker. It's only on very rare occasions that someone would want to mix it with something else. I once had a customer who ordered scotch and milk, but I think that had to do with the way their stomach reacted to the scotch (or any alcohol) - and that was just my opinion, never asked them why.

I have found scotch a neat drink usually, to enjoy a good one. Mixing a single malt scotch is almost sacreligious to scotch drinkers, however, regular blended scotch has some options.
1) Mix with water or on the rocks to get the cold melt mix of water.
2) Try a club soda mix for a fizz.
3) Try it neat or on the rocks with a twist of lemon...sacreligious perhaps, but it really does enhance the scotch.

I assume whatever you would make with a whiskey you could make with a scotch. Maybe a whiskey sour with a splash of OJ

Scotch & Coke. Yum! Not really a big drink here in the good ol' US but try it, you'll like it! Some folks drink just plain old water with it.
