To be able to share your heart, your soul, to share the good times and the bad and to not stand alone in the whirlwind of life. There is no fear there only the comfort of an others heart beating in rhythm with your own that is a joy most never know. Marriage is a symbol of that commitment between a man and a woman that they are together forever in the eternal bliss that is love.

Fooled me with the title. No I am not afraid of getting married just have to find someone special and wait at least one year so you know it will work out. Marriage today is not the same as when my parents were married they were married over 45 yrs. before my father passed away. You do not see that type of devotion or trust as much today. Don't know if it is the views the children are taught today (no offense to anyone). Love your 360 Budweiser is so cute I had to vote for him. Curious if you are asking this question because you are considering marriage if you are that guy sure is lucky to have someone down to earth.

Hope I have answered your question well I put full thought in before replying to all questions.

I'm really scared to get married! Almost every couple I know is divorced or unhappy and should be divorced. Having a bad marriage is my ultimate fear of failure.

I think the most important thing a couple could have going into a marriage is realistic expectations. Marriage is not a fairy tale, there's a lot of work involved in even the best relationships--though hopefully it doesn't feel like work!

I am an Indian girl. What scares me most is that at my home all my wishes are fulfilled. My parents see to it that i am very happy.I am pampered.Ofcourse i will be independent enough to fulfill my wishes. But when someone else does it for u,then u feel more happy.isn`t it?
I wonder what will happen in my husband's place?I have to behave very decent,i cannot cry aloud when something wrong happens.I always think it will be very difficult for me to adjust. Now i have my own room, own music system n everything belongs to me.But then i have to share everything. And will i be emotionally satisfied?
Basically i love my parents so much that i want to stay with them always and i know i can`t love anyone more than my parents and i wonder if someone will love me as much as my parents do!because parent`s love is eternal and cannot be matched. But then again i know i have to also have a future family. This is life.
That is why my partner should be more of my kind,i meant more of the kind i wish for.
Hey i`ll marry after many more years. But see how big things i am talking!!!

I really hope I do get married someday. But there are a lot of things to consider before making that decision. How long have you known your significant other? How well do you know him/her? If and when you fight, is it over small things or big issues? Do you feel like you can completely trust him/her with your life? Because that is what you are doing...giving your life to each other, which hopefully will end up being the best decision you ever made.

Just now, I'd say that marriage is something that men should be wary of. A wrong decision might harm their fortunes and their prospects so badly that they probably could never recover. Men don't live so long that they can "just get over" the loss of the reward from twenty thousand hours of their labor, which a exwife can usually snatch from him with a court decision. How to give a woman a sense of the threat men face? Hm... Would you cosign a stranger's loan for $200,000?

Oops! Sorry Amanada I thought this was an offer. To answer your Q. I think both men and women today are nervous to get married. I think about 1 year is a good time to be in a relationship b4 you consider marriage. The you have seen how all 4 seasons affect that person.

I think I would love to get married. My parents have been happily married for 33 years and they are still crazy about each other. I think it would be nice to have a husband to wake up to, to cook for, and take care of. Also some one who I can come home to and hug a lot. My grandparents (they died :() had their 60th and they were so close to each other. After my grandfather passed away my grandmother followed with in a few years. So would I marry? Yes! I hope within a year of really dating that person because apparently you know in 6 months if you want to live with them the rest of your life.

ADDITIONAL THOUGHTS AND STATISTICS ON MARRIAGE

What About Redefining Marriage?

No marriage is an island. Marriage shapes society and is shaped by society. Just as negative social institutions like slavery can be dismantled, positive social institutions like marriage can decline or disintegrate without support. Marriage needs legal and cultural support in order to continue and thrive.
Marriage is taken. Recognizing the uniqueness of marriage doesn’t prevent others from entering into caring, interdependent relationships. Close friends, siblings or gays and lesbians may want to have their close personal relationships recognized and the government may consider creating new categories, but the term “marriage” is taken.
Marriage isn’t Parliament’s to change. Marriage existed before government regulation. Governments did not author marriage and it is not theirs to rewrite. Governments need to reaffirm marriage and give marriage the legal and economic support it needs.
Marriage is a fundamentally heterosexual expression and institution. Marriage is an expression of the complimentarity of the sexes. We exist in two sexes and marriage is the inclusive union of one male and one female. Marriage is the social, cultural and religious means of facilitating the long-term and exclusive sexual bonding of male and female.
Marriage has the capacity to procreate. Marriage creates a stable relationship and recognizes the unique procreative capacity of a heterosexual union. Single persons and other domestic relationships may have children from previous relationships or through the use of reproductive technologies, but they are not procreative. Marriage doesn’t require that a couple have children, but it recognizes the fact that only a heterosexual union can procreate.
Marriage gives children the best basis for life. Marriage does not intentionally forfeit the child’s right to grow up being nurtured by the child’s biological mother and father. It gives the child a role model of both sexes in a committed relationship.
What Do the Statistics Say About Marriage?

The number of common-law couples and single parents are growing, although 70% of families are headed by married couples. In 2001, 6.4 million couples in Canada were married and 1.2 million couples were living common-law.
Married couples are twice as likely to stay together. About 30% of married couples will eventually separate compared to 60% of common-law couples.
Younger Canadians are more likely to live common-law as their first union.
