Which do you prefer? A genuine heartfelt gift/thankyou/embrace/etc or a gesture that was cold and without feeling, just an automatic response?
The answer is obvious!
That is why God made us and the Angels with free will. Some chose with their free will to do things not good. That is why despite the creation being exceptionally Good, evil is present too.

I think you're on to something there. If I'm not mistaken, Middle Eastern thought involved the idea of everything, even evil, being orchestrated by the hand of an almighty God that created it for his own glory and pleasure. Therefore even evil was in a sense, "good" and this is how I think Jesus was simply reflecting his own culture when he said "lead us not into temptation". The distinction just hadn't been made, God was the author of everything.
Just my opinion, but I did pick this up from a clergyperson.

Because God is not involved in the creations of men and is not to be blamed for what they do with the gift of consciousness. Do you really believe God can look upon the absurd acts and ramblings of men? Do you think He is interested in the crap men come up with? Do you think he created ..oh, I don't know - lets say - existentialism, Pauline christinaity, reality TV...for example. Of course he didn't... MEN created these things, you dolt! as they are permitted to do on this lower plane. Is this such a hard concept? Why is spiritual matters at the kindergarten level with you people? This also applies to vampire bats, although this is not immediately obvious to the littlies.

Because when He created Adam and Eve, they broke His rules. They decided they could be "their own gods", and decided to do what they felt like doing. The Lord is good and perfect, so He decided he didn't want to associate with us like that. Then, as you know, Jesus Christ came and brought us all back into a good relationship with Him.
The reason things are still not good is because satan continues to tempt ALL OF US "to be our own man/woman", carry out whatever we want to do, make us feel that God doesn't care about what we do, and even convince us that God doesn't exist.
We can all continue to follow the Lord, but He has given everyone a free will. He doesn't want everyone to be "robots" automatically obeying Him and loving Him. He wants us to VOLUNTARILY love and follow Him.
So we can prevent bad things from happening; the choice is up to us.

God gave free will to all living things. That is why there is evil in the world. That is also why there is good in this world.
God doesn't act through us. We are not puppets and he is not pulling the strings. If He were, then God is responsible for people doing evil, and thus, God, is responsible for creating Sin.
If God were good, why would He create Sin? For his own amusement? So that he can punish for all eternity a sinner that was only a puppet to His will? That would mean that God is cruel, and He is not. So, in conclusion, Free Will, is responsible for people choosing to do evil.

The point here is that God chose to make all things and so he sees all he created as being good because He is divine, we are humans who are emotional and we have hard times seeing the greater good in all things painful or cruel. I actually stopped practicing my religion and talking to God at all because of so many things i see, know and hear everday, but when this realization , such a simple one occured to me...I felt relief knowing that it is ok for me to be weak and not as understanding, because i am only human and not God. I am terribly humanitarian, and when i went overseas to visit my husbands family in bangladesh for 6 months...I couldnt believe what god was allowing to happen, and I became extraordinarily depressed and sick all the time because i couldnt as a human being help every single person, and that made me feel worthless and guilty. But when this simple thought occured to me I felt better but not cured obviously and i still have a wild hair to help as many people as i can in my lifetime. In faith you are supposed to believe that all God does is good because only he knows what the big plan is.

Because he also created sentience and free will. God doesn't do evil, but free will allows sentient being to create evil, which doesn't please Him too much! Even Christians, even churches can do evil...like ostracizing gays, judging others, all that awful stuff some people do in the name of God, which is certainly displeasing to Him!

I can usually get inside a christians mind and say something they would say to a question, but on this one i am stumped. I'm guessing some of the younger ones who don't realize they make choices with their brain 'god' supposedly gave them will say 'god gave us choices, and we made bad decisions.' or somethin liek tht. ;)
