First of all, hang in there. You are going to get through it. I have, several times in my career. ;o) So you have a job that sux? Here is what you need to do.
1. Get your resume updated - try to tailor it to the perspective position that you are looking to obtain.
2. Put out your resume/cover-letter to several positions that you consider worthwhile. Perhaps you would consider relocating or changing what you are doing... This opens up all kinds of opportunities.
3. Once the interviews start coming in and you decide to take an offer, you have the ability to gracefully and professionally withdraw from your current position.
The most important thing is to never burn bridges because it is a very small world that we live in.

For sure find another job before you quit. If you can afford to quit and not work, then do it. Life is short and meant to be enjoyed.
Do you need to just give it time maybe? Perhaps the job didn't meet your expectations and you're dissapointed.
I hated working at DQ as a teenager but I did just to pay my rent. I went to school so I'd never have another crap job again. But I could see the light at the end of the tunnel and stuck with it until a better job at the gas station came up. That one kind of sucked too and now that I think about it - ice cream was better than gas station bathrooms.

Wow I don't know. I guess try and make the best of each day and eventually another door will be opened to you. Keep your eye out for other positions. If you believe you want or need to get out of teaching all together you may want to see a job counseler. You can contact one at your college most likely for free. I feel for you, I know it is hard. Try to find small joys everyday. Read up on classroom discipline and motivation and pray! I hope your situation becomes easier. Good luck.

Tell them you will have to tender your resignation, in my line of work we call it giving a 2 weeks notice, unless certain changes are not made. One of the changes you tell your boss is you need to be making more money. The second change they must make is to somehow make the children behave better whether that means putting an administrator in the class with you or whatever is up to them, the third change is you'd like to be treated better by the head hauncho, or you will simply have to quit. The worst they could say is no, we cannot make these changes, then threaten to hire a lawyer. Good luck!

Sorry to hear that. Teachers don't make enough for the things they have to endure, and parents aren't teaching their kids to respect their teachers. Is it just the school ur at, or r u tired of teaching? If u think u want to keep teaching, I would just switch schools.

motivate yourself, and motivate the students thats your job.
start a school band, ensemble, group. marching band. hold a playathon to raise money for the instruments, over a saturday have the longest drum solo competition, get moving and you will move others, you never know you may actually enjoy your job, you only get out what you put in. LF

You may need to go back for some more education if you can't "bare" any more months of teaching, as well as to train for a new career.

I hear ya.
Maybe you need to teach in High School? Or Privately.
Can you section them off into groups? form mini combos or something. I know that if there's a "gig" or recital, they'll have a reason to practice.

Hang in there while you get your resume together. Do you still like the music at least? Also, give private lessons outside the district.
