and wouldn't that take for you to have the engine swapped and the gear box to be switched out?

Whether it's possible or not depends on the car, but it's expensive in any case. You would at least need to switch the gear box; you may be able to use the same engine and you may need to change the engine. You will also need to add a clutch pedal assembly, and on newer cars you will probably have to change the computer as well, as many newer automatics are controlled by the electronic control unit (ECU), or so tied in that it's impossible to get the engine to run without swapping the ECU and any & all associated sensors, wires etc.

In short... buy the manual in the first place, or sell the auto and buy a car with the manual if that's what you want.

yes for the most part you could but many newer models don't have the crankshaft drilled to accept the pilot bushing if your lucky enough to have one that does you will have to change alot everything from installing a clutch pedal to any linkage probably the transmission mount as well as the transmission you'll have to install a shifter rewire your back up lights plug off or change the radiator perhaps the cross member as well and probably a handful of other little things so whats the use unless your a wizz at these things id say your barking up the the wrong transmission if you did all the work yourself it would be expensive if you took it to a shop they would love you it would cost a small fortune how ever I'm sure they would except the job with the right down payment so what ever dude

Over right here on the left coast a instruction manual is termed a stick. And in case you could force a stick, you could force something. Automatics are impressive, extremely in case you have massive ft that wont in effective condition between the pedals of todays tiny autos, yet once you ever might desire to lease or borrow a stick, a minimum of you will understand a thank you to force it. And when you have pushed for a year or so, pass seek for an previous truck driving force and ask him to coach you the thank you to double grab. You aint rejoiced till you have floor a pound on a sq. decrease, non synchro tranny. force secure and undergo in techniques...cellular telephone off and on your pocket mutually as on the line.

You can have it changed from auto to manual without changing out the engine. It will be a lot of work and cost you several grand. And you'll also have to add a clutch.

What??? Is this a joke.
What for would you want to do that. It would cost you about $3000 to install this to Manuel and then not to mention that the car would depreciate even more. Manual aren't worth anything.
Keep it the way it is. Just sell it. It's worth more the way it is.

Anythng can be done, but the cost factors are going to make it not worthwhile.
You could keep the same engine, but you would need to replace the transmission, install a clutch pedal and linkage and may need to change the computer.

I say you can do it. It's cheaper to get a used transmission than a new one. Just all the parts used then get a new clutch flywheel and pressure plate. I know doing all that for my 626 is cheaper than getting a new automatic transmission.

This isn't as simple as changing the rims and tires. This will cost TONS of money, and MAY make the car worth LESS than if you left it alone.

Only if you order it for the factory brand new. If its on the lot don't hold your breathe unless you are willing to pay for conversion. Cost would be around $5,000 if it's all ready on the lot.
