How do you know they aren't lying to you about who or what they are?

Spirit Guides are entities - physical and non-physical - who have chosen to aid others on the path to spiritual enlightenment as we are about to ascend to higher light - the evolution of consciousness - our natural state of being.
Why would they bother? What would they have to gain?

What they are depends on wither you are an American Indian or a Christian.
The name says it all . Spirit guide an animal spirit that will teach you the ways of life. or a Guardian Angel that does the same task.
finding out if they are lying to you . open your souls eyes and read them with your own spirit.

Their Angels.
There are Good ones.
There are Bad ones.
It can be Tricky telling the Difference.The Good Ones tell the Truth all of the Time to Help you.
The Bad ones Lie all the Time.

I've only heard about spirit guides in Jack Chick tracts and in cartoons. I never took them seriously.

They are either Angels,Devils,or deceased people...Yes they are very real.In mythology there is a spirit guide called Charon who escorts the dead from the Styx river..This myth is based on true facts.God bless.

they might be--of course they might be your higher consciousness talking to you and what they tell you about who or whatt they are is just for your own benifit, because you can't trust yourself that much--or they might be actual spirits who are "embellishing" who they were while they were alive, simply because they don't want to admit that they were no more special than you--but you can trust them--the rule with spirits is "like attracts like" or "birds of a feather flock together"--you won't attract one who intends to harm you

You don't know. In my experience they prefer lies to the truth. Its best not to dabble.
