Love, I agree with you on the treadmill...YUK YUK YUK!

In colder climates, go to your terrainy areas to run. Wear layers to keep warm. Running heats your body beyond belief, so what you wear is up to you.

I run in Los Angeles, so my running is determined by rain. It's very refreshing.

It's always best to breathe through the nose when running, regardless of the outside temperature.

The correct breathing while running is always inhale through the nose is 2 lets say seconds and exhale in 2 or 3 'seconds'. In winter you have a higher probability of having difficulties when breathing due to the low temperatures but you should always always follow the same breathing tecnique otherwise you are constantly changing your tecnique wich influences a lot in your running achievement. I recommend you that during winter you assist to a club or gym instead of going out to the cold where you are exposed to diseases and have a higher risk of getting an awful cold. You might consider talking to a professional in person for more aproximately and more specific answers. Don't risk your health. Wish you luck.

You may have to compromise. On very cold or snowy days, you may have to run indoors. It's not like it's everyday. Also it's safer, especially if where you are running is slippery.

Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth is best, as the nose act as a filter for dust/dirt etc.

Well if you love to run, and you hate running inside like in a gym, then my best suggestion is go running around your neighborhood and not worry about the snow. The harder it is to run the more you work your muscles. If you really love running outside, then go running and dont worry about the snow. Just tell yourself that you can do it.!

If you live in a city, running in the winter is fine. Just run on the sidewalks in well maintained neighborhoods. Or on a well maintained trail. You will, of course, want to avoid the stretches that are ice-covered, and you won't want to run immediately after a snowfall.

If it's cold I usually like to have a mask or scarf to breathe through. it helps to warm the air.
