Personally I think people who suffer like that should have a choice. If it's humane to do it to pets there should be no reasons a human can't choose that for his or her self.
Which can also tie into such questions as if you slowly kill herself via smoking does that count as suicide?
If you want to get deeper then that, every day we live we bring ourself one more day closer to our death, so arn't we slowly killing ourself by living?

The point should actually be that every moment you have here is precious. Even feeling pain is feeling. That is always better than not feeling. If you want a religious argument, look at it this way. Any and all suffering here is temporary, and a small price to pay for "eternal" bliss. If you take your own life before it's time, you are admitting that the reward is not of any value, as you decide not to suffer anymore here. While it is understood that some suffer more than others, and there may be a great amount of pain involved, if you compare that to the pain that jesus went through it is minor. So suffer here, what ever is laid upon you so that the eternal bliss may be yours.

In life, there is pain and there is pleasure, if the pain is that bad, then the person should be able to get a medication from the dr to make their life more manageable. I know a 12 year old girl with Neuroblastoma cancer. She has been fighting cancer since she was 6 years old, and is in stage 4 cancer. The worst stage, It goes away and comes back, and now at 12, it is gone again. This girl has suffered so much, and she would never think of giving up. She should not have lived as long as she has, but she is alive. To enjoy life, you must experience pain, but also, no one will ever have a choice to come to life, into the world, that is IMPOSSIBLE, and it is IMPOSSIBLe when to tell your body when to die, killing yourself is unnatural, even if you are not discussing religious stuff. I really don't know how to answer this if I was in the situation with my only family, but this is just my thought.

Q: how can a just God consider that a sin?
A: Killing is wrong. It is never the answer. Self murder (suicide) is a sign of mental illness.
That's the textbook answer. If I or a loved one were suffering, I could not say for sure because I have not "been there". I do know that I would fast and pray.
Decades ago a doctor did ask me to pull the plug on a loved one in a coma. We prayed & she came out of it. She lived another 12 wonderful years. Through that, I learned not to ever "play God." God knows best, always.

Though God will no doubt take into consideration all extenuating circumstances and subjective pressures when judging such a person, the deliberate destruction of human life is always an objective evil. Besides, where do you draw the line? One person is suffering from bone cancer, another from the breakup of a relationship, or simply from the pain of loneliness and depression, and "not able to stand life any more".

Because even in all their pain and suffering they still have a chance to call on the name of God and be saved. They have a chance if they are already a Christian to show those around them how to be strong and faithful until the end. God will not allow us to endure more than we can bear. Even if we FEEL LIKE we can't bear it. Through our suffering we discover our strength. How many sinners die instantly with a heart attack or in a car wreck and never get the chance right before death to ask forgiveness of their sins? At least those with terminal illnesses who know they are going to die have those final weeks or months to get right with God before passing.
No, we did not choose to be on earth God gave us - YOU included - that GIFT! He also offers us the gift of ETERNAL LIFE. It is completely up to us to accept it or refuse it.
That said, all actions have consequences. If a person chooses to take their own life for WHATEVER reason they will be immediately standing before God and answering to Him for why they decided to opt out of the GIFT God gave them. Suicide is a sin and sin cannot enter into heaven. Who are we to question God on why something is a sin? He said it is and therefore it is.

There are a lot of people who believe that God is a very harsh judge and judges everyone exactly the same. That is, quite frankly, puzzling to me.
The God I believe in is a just and most importantly, compassionate, Being. He sees into people's hearts, and knows what lies there. He would no more turn aside a person who committed suicide than He would an innocent child who died in a car accident. He sees all, and He forgives all, even suicide.

I know several people who have taken their own life. It really bothers me at times. I think that the life God gives us is a precious gift and we should take special care of that gift. It is not for us to decide when our life should end, even if we are in extreme pain or grief.
However, I do think that we are diminished in our capacity to make logical decisions when we are in extreme situations. I think that sometimes people might do something rash that they really didn't want/mean to do. They feel like there is "no way out" or "they can't take the pain".
God is merciful and He loves us more than we can imagine. I believe that He gives us every chance to turn to Him--even at the moment of our death. Even with suicide. I think that even a serial killer who truly repents at the moment of his death can be saved. Only God knows our hearts.

We all have crosses to bear, some are physical and some are mental. These are the times when Christ is so close to us but we need to reach to Him to receive His help.
Suicide or mercy killing is not an option. Did the Blessed Mother or the Apostles put Jesus out of his misery when he was agonizing on the cross?

you might also just tie someone up, toss them in the river and tell them, "please don't get wet, because that's not what I'm talking about.
why did I fail a test when I studied my brains out.
why do I get fat when I eat chocolate
why is the world so unfair?
Cuz the world is bad ,sugar.
I don't know if God say's ending your life cuz you're in pain is a sin. My brother was 35. rotten lungs. only alive cuz of the machine. he told us he was ready to go. we cried, but hey, it was his choice and we loved an respected him.
sometimes life ain't hard. seems like dying might even be harder. why don't you just ask God what he thinks about the whole mess? if he's out there, I guess he's big enough to answer you.
peace out dude.
