That verse is always taken out of context. It was revealed for only a state of war against the Muslims, which doesn't exist and can only happen when there is a Khalifa who declares it...which there isn't. There are also many rules such as...innocent civilians are not to be killed...only the military forces.

Believers must retaliate. Those who transgress will have a painful doom. 2:178

Kill disbelievers wherever you find them. If they attack you, then kill them. Such is the reward of disbelievers. (But if they desist in their unbelief, then don't kill them.) 2:191-2

War is ordained by Allah, and all Muslims must be willing to fight, whether they like it or not. 2:216

Believers fight for Allah; disbelievers fight for the devil. So fight the minions of the devil. 4:76

Have no unbelieving friends. Kill the unbelievers wherever you find them. 4:89

Those who make war with Allah and his messenger will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. That is how they will be treated in this world, and in the next they will have an awful doom. 5:33

you'll find verses on killing the non beleivers who ATTACKED the early Muslims first. and not because they are nonbelievers.

verses were revealed in a time where Muslims were being attacked constantly by the pagans of Makkah and they had no orders from God to even defend themselves then later on God revealed to the Prophet that Muslims should start defending themselves and gave Muslims a guide line on how to deal with nonbelievers in battles, so the muslims won't transgress and go over the limit.

the verses are pretty obvious. but you have to read them in context and not take them out of context.

all the phony claims on the internet are verses taken out of context, not even full verses. they tend to take half of what the verse says.

pretty cheap!!
