I have found that tampax pearls work the best. if not try stuffing a maxi pad up there, and make sure you get the one with wings, that way you can stick it around your nose.

Nasal Tampons For Nosebleeds

2016-11-14 12:31:31 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

Yes they do; we use them in the emergency room all the time. I prefer them to the inflatable ones; what we call rhino-rockets. The best way to stop a nose bleed is direct pressure by pressing your nose tight with your fingers. But if the bleed is further back; you would need a rhino-rocket. Try to find out the source of your nosebleeds. A tampon is a quick fix but what is causing your nose bleeds. Dry air, picking your nose, to much aspirin, or blood thinner (Coumadin). Prolonged nose bleeds need the attention of an ER doctor.

Depends on how big your nostrils are.
Don't tilt your head back, tilt it forward so the blood flows towards the tip of your nose not down your throat. use a cold washcloth and squeeze your nose closed. The blood will start to coagulate and the bleeding should stop.

I think these days they suggest tilting your head forwards. Putting a bag of frozen peas or a frozen block on the back of your neck helps too. I truly don't know about nasal tampons..sorry.

..how about a sanitary pad with wings!LOL
Seriously, lean forward and pinch the nose. Forward so blood doesn't drip into the back of your throat and tastes nasty.
Winter dry air.. sometimes a little Vaseline just inside the nostril helps prevent dry air nose bleeds.

Absolutely. I have found that they work about three times as fast as pinching the nose. They are sterile, and most will expand a bit when they absorb the blood which adds the pressure to stop the bleeding that you would otherwise use when you pinch. I use lights or slim fit, because let's face it I don't want a super up my nose!

Nah...you're better off just dabbing the blood with a maxi pad...and then when it stops bleeding you can clean off any residual blood with a douche...and if all this work gives you a headache...take a couple of Motrin.

yes; in the ER they can even give you a "nasal tampon". If it doesn't stop in an hour or so (or whenever you get worried) go to an ER and they'll help you out
