I live in NW Florida i would like the destination to be no further than 300 miles away (roughly a days drive) and have lots of scenery and things to see photograph etc. I plan on staying 5 days not including the drive there and back. Thanks for the help in advance.

Seems all the answers you have are ell over 300 miles. If you are in NW Florida, try Brunswick< GA, the food is great, people are friendly, nice outlet malls. There is also an old historic hotel on Jekyll Island here the 1st transatlantic phone call as transmitted from. It as the in place in its day for Rockefeller's and People of that era, but today still a beauty with a reasonable price. They have lovely carriage rides and great food and beautiful scenary.

I'm trying to remember.. how far is Washington DC? DC has tons of great freebie places to go (14 Smithsonian museums, for starters). The Metro (subway) has an all-day passes -- you definitely don't want to have a car in DC (traffic, parking, etc).

Our family stayed an hour north of the city in a camp ground. We then drove to the nearest Metro link, and rode into the city for the day. The Metro stations are your key to cheaper fast food too.

Victoria B.C. I've been everywhere, and I never forget one vacation, and it is in Victoria B.C. It's beautiful, its historic, It's just well.. im moving there now lol.. I think its a calm peacful place, the island.. I don't suggest Vancouver.. my car got smashed and I got robbed two times in 3 days. I suggest something Victoria because you have to go by farey and thats just a trip in itself. There is lots to do there and lots of places to go. Where ever you go don't miss the empress hotel. Just go look at the hotel, it makes you feel all warm and happy :)
