"CHICAGO -- Sixteen immigration fugitives were recently arrested in the Chicago metro area during a four-day initiative, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced Friday."
"ICE officers made the arrests during "Operation Return to Sender," which started Monday and ended Thursday, according to a release from ICE. It is part of an ongoing nationwide operation targeting aliens who have final orders of removal.
The 16 individuals arrested during the operation are all fugitive aliens with final orders of deportation, the release said. Of the 16 arrested, 13 have criminal records including convictions for drunken driving, fraud, and robbery, the release said. "
None of them was her.
Anyone have any idea why? What are they waiting for?

game over loves, you know, it would make me feel justice had been served. She already had three one year extensions of this, her SECOND deportation based on the health of her son and has been collecting American benefits all of that time. Then after all that special consideration she pulls this. The whole ability to get a deportation order to show up is based on the illegal's agreement to do so. Otherwise they are taken into custody. So she lied about that too. She would not be eligible for any amnesty anyway since she returned illegally after previously being deported which is a felony, totally apart from working under a fake social security number. You say she is a 'mother'. I say she is a criminal who had a child. Many criminals have children. That doesn't stop them going to jail.

Carol, actually, I lived in the Northwest subburbs for some time and worked downtown. Can't say I lingered too long in that neighborhood, but ICE is supposed to have support ordinary citizens don't.

It doesn't make sense to me, either, Dar. All I can think of is that because of her affiliation with "United Latino Family" (mentioned by hayleylov here) and all of the publicity that she has drawn to herself and that church, everyone is afraid to touch this. I am curious what the general population of that town think of all this. Are they enjoying perhaps a tourist draw from the publicity? I think that the people of that town ought to get together and demand that she be arrested and deported immediately, with or without her child (I think she should take him with her, if she really considers herself a good mother, but if not, sobeit.) and despite any outcry that may happen by the rest of the illegals, the church, or the pro-illegal immigrant supporters. We have laws that should be enforced and I don't understand all this hesitation by Immigration and the police to enforce the laws that we have now. What are they afraid of? If it comes down to a riot happening due to enforcing the laws, then sobeit! Enforce the laws! Bang some heads together, bring in the N.G. and get it done!

well it figures the tear jerker will become their new platform so if we let her stay on this basis is that all any illegal immigrant needs to do is run to the nearest church ?
and i might add she was deported years ago and came back illegal She then started up an illegal alien activist lobby group called United Latino Family. I guess Elvira Arellano assumed her battles over her illegal status were over and that she was home free. Home free enough to become the founder and leader
of a lobby group, consulting with President Vicente Fox of Mexico -- the president of the country she fled from and vows not to return to because it's so horrible.

There is no ligament reason for this woman to still be in this country. You are absolutely correct when you say she is a criminal and many criminals have children. This criminal has done a good job of getting a lot of attention her way knowing that there is not a politician to be found willing to engage this close to an election, so there has been no pressure put on any agency to send her back where she belongs. As sorry as this is, it is what we have reduced ourselves to. My question is how do we fix it?

parasites like this Elvira Arellano make me want to throw up. what a piece of crap!! I am not surprised, though, by the blatant disregard of law and order this woman and many Mexicans whom I either heard about or met. It's the main reason Mexico is so bloody poor!!!

they haven't picked her up yet because she has an American baby. and you can't just barge into a church for some one that is getting sanction. bull crap if you ask me. if i broke the law, and was staying in a church they would go in and get me. she needs to go home, with child or not. sounds cold but not after i found out they send 43 mill to Mexico in a year. all illegals need to GO.

First of al 16 illegal immigrants in Chicago won't be noticed, I wonder if 1600 would be. No one is going to rip a mother out of a church around election time. It would be a blood bath!! You've never been to Pilsen or 26th street in Chicago...that much I'm sure of.
