It means you need to make copies of the files on your computer. Do you have a CD-ROM or DVD-RW drive? The easiest way is to click start, all programs, accessories, system tools, backup. You can tell the back up what you want to save and which drive to save it to.
Usually takes about 30 min to back-up your whole system.

Good Luck and next time, instead of insulting people, be kind and ask for help nicely.

To backup is just that - saving a copy of the files that are important to you - or files that are time-consuming to recreate - to another source.

It is always wise to keep a copy (backup) of your files because one day your PC will crash. For that reason, it is best to keep copies on a separate source so that when you get a new PC or reinstall a program, you can read the files back onto your hard drive.

Personally, I backup to flashdrives. The price is down, they work like floppies, are transportable -- life is good.

It means files you are working on in other programs, not internet explorer. I installed it and i'm fine. All my favorites are still here. It's just telling you to save whatever your working on. For example, if your typing a paper, save it and close Microsoft Word. All you need to do is close other programs that are running, like a music player or Word or AIM. Do that, and you will be able to install. YOU DONT NEED TO BACKUP YOUR ENTIRE COMPUTER, EVERYONE ELSE IS LYING.

format a cd for cdwritable or get some floppy discs for the A\Drive its one of those slots in the computer tower now send the files to save them in the documents after the discs are formatted to hold files of that type like some for music or for exe files or regular words or so on now place the files into the cd's or the floppy discs that way if you lose the drivers for your discs or the records of your finances they can be dropped back in by opening the files

DONT INSTALL INTERNET EXPLORER 7!

There are too many problems occuring with the new version. People have been posting questions all day today and the last couple days about problems with IE7. My advice is, don't do it!

you can make a backup copy of your files and save it directly in your computer (default backup)

or else, you can burn your files onto a cd or move them to a flash drive (which could end up being more secure)
