YES! I told (what I considered a small lie a couple of weeks ago). Because of it, I have lost a very good friend and feel terrible about it! NEVER LIE! It is better to just not answer a question someone asks, that to lie!

Not exactly. There are cases that it is better to lie than to tell the truth. You need to weigh the pros and the cons.
However, a lie is still a lie. There are no other colors to it.
Just like culture and emotions. I believe it is neither right or wrong...depends on the situation and on the person's outlook.
What might be right to you may be wrong to me. It's pretty subjective and situational.

Always. Yet it doesn't stop us from lying.
The thing is sometimes, we lie to make other people happy. But you can't please everyone. And neither can you live a lie.
So in the end if you think you have to lie, you might as well keep quiet. A lie might just create more problems anyway.

yes, it is definitely bad, but hypocritically, lying really does prevent a lot of drama and trouble from happening.

lying isnt always bad.. actually lying sometimes can be better then the truth itself..
