The sun's rays hit the Earth's atmosphere, where the light is scattered by nitrogen and oxygen molecules in the air. The blue wavelength of this light is affected more than the red and green wavelengths, causing the surrounding air to appear blue. At sunset, the sun's light passes farther through the atmosphere, deflecting and decreasing the blue in the air. Scattering by dust particles and pollution in the air causes the sunset to appear red.

Something with light scattering. The way the light is, it ends up reflecting the color blue. I'm not sure of exactly how it works. It's been a while since I had a science class, so I forgot a lot of it.

SKY IS COLOURLESS; what we see is the reflected & refracted sun-rays coming to us after striking dust particles of atmosphere, when a ray of light falls on particle some portion is split in spectrum of 7 colours. wave lengths of each colour is different. blue colour wave length is maximum so blue colour spreads more.

The sky is blue because it reflects the ocean. The ocean is blue because it reflects the sky. Weird, huh?!

Listen to Natalie Y. She is obviously a bright person because she knows what she is talking about. It is not because of the ocean. It is due to scattering.

Because light is scattered by our atmosphere on it's way to your eyes. Look up 'Rayleight scattering'.

It is NOT due to reflection off the ocean.
