I think you are on the money with red. BUT - be aware of how much light the room gets, because red soaks up light and if there is poor lighting, your rooms will look smaller. I think you might want to think about a feature wall - in a red tone maybe.
I think less is more when you have such a strong leopard pattern. You may want to consider getting a different bedspread. Then your wall choices are endless!
Having said all this, I suggest having a red feature wall, in a nice jewel tone. Get some throw pillows in the similar colour, striped, small pattern. For your curtains, use the same material as the throw pillows. You will need to add a little more colour then just red, so throw in some nice accesories. Deep purple will work well with red...you may consider curtains with red and purple accents. I think the key in a small space is that the way you decorate flows throughout.
Toss in a leaopard pillow or lamp shade...

I think red is a little ambitious on the walls. I'd suggest a mocha color on the walls and then use red as an accent color on throw pillows or curtains. Maybe red curtains with a band of leopard print added to the bottom. Animal print accessories are available inexpensively at Cost Plus and that sort of place, too. Might be a nice touch to add a little zebra or tiger print on a picture frame or lamp shade.

One way to create an illusion of greater space is with mirrors. Hang a large mirror on one of your bare walls, and it will not only create a dimension of more space, but will reflect any light coming from your windows.
Since black and beige are neutral colors, you need a bright color contrast for your accessories. Touches of red would be nice, but don't use too much or it can be overpowering. You could also try a bright tangerine shade or burnt orange instead of red for your curtains, and then contrast with a cool color such as forest green or teal blue for your chairs. Or you could decorate with a monochromatic color scheme in varying shades of just one color, like blue chairs, for example, with light blue toss pillows. Plants also give an airy, outdoor feel to a small apartment unit. Don't use more than two colors, or you'll have a "busy" look. Don't have a lot of little knick-knacks sitting around, unless you group them all together as one unit. Keep the look as minimal as possible to avoid a cluttered appearance. Like you, I also hate clutter. I like a room that's neat and restful, and I think you and I are in agreement with that.
Summing it all up, use mirrrors, one or two bright colors, and keep knick-knacks to a bare minimum -- a simple grouping or one large, beautiful object or plant, and I think you'll achieve the look you're after. Good luck!

I would definitely go with green and a darker yellow or red, but since your furniture are black I would use a brighter green like agrassy color, not sage, though I love sage, because of the dark colors I would use a brighter one. On the Wall go with black and white pictures and one that has red in it to add some punch.
Maybe 3 pictures either in a row if they're the same size or arranged in a pattern if they are different sizes, but would stick with black frames. Since you have a leopard pattern stick with something tropical. You can do two picture with palm fronds and the one in the middle like a red hibiscus.

Jewel tones would go really well with the black and tan. To separate your living area from the sleeping area, what about a glossy black screen that could be folded away when not needed. By using gloss paint on bigger items, light will reflect and enhance your small space

Seems how you have so much black, you go with any color, they all go good with black. Maybe something bold? Like a rasberry or teal. You might want to go to a fabric store and buy just a small pieces of fabric in the colors you are thinking about. Try putting the peices around your apartment and see if it works for you. Have fun with it, good luck!

Red is a great choice and I wouldn't be afraid to add some dark purplish color too. maybe mix the curtains with red and purple and go from there. Sounds nice.

I think that the red is a perfect idea and try to lean towards fall colors and spring colors.to brighten the room up instead of having all dark colors.
