There are several reasons, but all this is the subject of a book by sociologist Rodney Stark, called The Rise of Christianity. It is quite readable and goes against many common misconceptions of early Christianity.
One example is the way they treated baby girls, elderly people, and the sick. In Greco-Roman culture, these people would not be tended to in the same way Christians did. As Christians looked after these "outcasts" their numbers grew naturally. And through reproduction, the rate climed geometrically.

Because back then people had a little more faith and common sense than people today and knew the truth when they heard it.
The concept of the Messiah was well-known throughout the Roman Empire but when the news came around that He had appeared and preached Salvation by faith and not by works it was embraced by many.
The following was probably one of the most appealing words of Christ that gathered Gentiles to follow Christ.
Matthew 9
12On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

i like how all these people think that humans are wiser and more reflective today than they were 2000 years ago.
it actually didn't spread very rapidly until after Diocletian died in 286ad; allowing Constantine to finally end the centuries of Roman torture in 312 after winning the battle of the milvean bridge. he may have been using christianity as a way to legitimize his own authority over the empire - in any even, state sponsoprship allowed christian scholarship and philosophy to fourish in the succeeding centuries.

hmm See i in my view wanna answer your question yet. . I in simple terms choose to state this If each and every physique turns Christian, then the Christians have easily executed their project and that's what they choose .. top? however the bible says that may no longer going to take place so as by way of fact of this the bible has lied if that does take place. So do Christians choose or do they no longer choose Christians? Hmm i think of that is Ironic. Plus, might I upload, that there are 6 church homes on one block of my community.

I think it is because Christ gave people hope and showed true, unconditional love, such as the woman at the well and the prostitute who washed his feet with her tears. They were given hope. Probably something they had never had before.

I think because life was a lot more simple back then. People believed in family and morals and ect... Also, you had angels coming down periodically, miracles ,prophets and of course Jesus. Things were different back then.

I think because back then Christianity was in its purest form, without the constrictures of "religion". People's lives were changed for the better, and through word of mouth, the good news of Jesus was spread, just like He intended.

Because at that time they were still following the true teachings Of Jesus. After the Romans took over Christianity they changed it to what we have today.
Something that is almost the exact opposite of what Jesus taught.
