To straighten hair permanently the best choice is a relaxer. However, I understand you not wanting this. So here are a few options:
a. Get a hair cut that will take away some of the bulk in your hair, you hair probably is thick and heavy, and a good stylist can give you a cut that will minimize the thickness, and make it easier to flat iron yourself.
b. Good old fashioned Press & Curl at local hair salon.
c. Work With What You Have. There is a company called Miss Jessies
www. missjessies.com, that makes products just for you. It was started by two biracial sister. It won't straighten your hair, but help you define your curls.

If you really want it straight, you need to go to a professional salon and let them do it.

But know that any chemicals on your hair will dry it out, cause breakage etc.

Why not wear your hair in beautiful long curls. You can moisturize your hair to keep it from looking frizzy/kinky but I think it would look beautiful in curls.

Work with what ya got and be proud

Learn how to enjoy being curly. It took me many years to finally enjoy the fact that I was graced with very curly hair. Once you've fried your hair a few times, trying to get it straight, and have to get it all cut off, you'll start looking for alternatives. Use a good serum to get rid of the frizzies, I like citre shine (cheap stuff) and biosilk (expensive stuff), let your hair air dry and then fluff just a bit and enjoy being YOU!! Most guys like curly hair on a lady better anyway. It's other women who prefer straight hair, unless they have straight hair and then they perm it and use curling irons daily.

I have long naturally curly hair and I can never get it straightened by myself. Only professionals can do it for me.

NEVERMIND- I cut it! It's only to my shoulders now.

a hot treatment for your dry hair, and a hot comb might be good, but have some one do for you like a hairstylist
