Okay. So I recently read this essay, and it outlined a ton of bible verses that aren't even looked at anymore. And I'm wondering why no one follows them but follows others so severely. Like, if God said both verses are equally important, why are women wearing pants? They're equally old, God set them both down...why do people follow one, not the other? I'm not insulting religion, I'm just curious why some rules get dropped out with the times and others don't. One of the verses was "And women shall not wear the clothes of men (aka pants?) nor men the clothes of women for it is abomination", and then that anti gay excuse one also says gay people are abomination. If God says they're both abominations...yanno, whatever information you can offer up about this. Throw it out there.

Most of the verses mentioned in the essay were from the Old Testament and part of the Mosaic Law.
For Christians, Jesus fulfilled the Law of Moses.
Christians are not held to the ceremonial parts of the Mosaic Law concerning of dietary purity and temple worship.
Christians are held to the moral law of God, some of which is expressed in the Ten Commandments.
However Jesus took the Ten Commandments to the next step summarizing them into the two Great Commandments:
+ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.
+ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
And teaching things like
+ Everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
+ Everyone is our neighbor including our enemies.
Therefore we have to go much farther than the original recipients of the Ten Commandments ever dreamed.
With love in Christ.

Wow! A seeker! A good question on the Bible is rare here and this is a good question. I wish a had the best answer but I don't. I can tell you to read the verses in context, meaning read the whole chapter because it may contain information as to why God is giving this particular law. Remember too that some of these laws were specific to the time, the hygiene laws for instance. Quarantine was used for illness because they didn't have the medications they have now. Women in the Old Testament had to stay at home during their menstrual cycle, this is unnecessary today. The Bible is a book that needs to be read and studied in it's entirety. You can't pick and choose what to accept and not accept but you can learn through study why God made certain provision and laws and even when those provisions and laws were changed. God told the Israelites not the worship idols but He had Moses make a copper snake that the people had to look at, so if an uneducated person were to read only a few verses they might think it was acceptable to worship snake idols. Now it all looks like a contradiction but if you study the whole story it was a punishment and life lesson for the people of that time. This is a huge issue and couldn't possibly be resolved here but keep looking because the Bible tells us that if we move closer to God, He will move closer the us.

1. the women wearing pants thing or anybody wearing any type of clothing is dependent on the society being lived in. lik today a man would be frowned upon for wearing a dress and heels.
Back in biblical days, they didnt quite have dresses but the men wore quite long robes. THat type of dress was acceptable back then.Again it's dependent on the society being lived in.
2. No not everyone follows the scripture word for word, evan some chrisrtian dont.Becuase that's a personal problem where an individual doesnt like an certain part of the bible and conviently decides to skip over it and ignore it. Again that's a personal individual problem. Which could also be the reason for so many false religions, cuase people are making up stuff that fits their personal prefrence. And a lot of what they make up are lies.
3. Biblical times and now a days homosexuality is an abominable sin, abominable meaning it's worse than the rest.Homosexuals are gonna have to allow themselves to be chastised and corrected by God who works through people, before they really start to change.

That's something I've been thinking about lately myself as well. I know that the entire Bible is inspired by God, but there are some things that we put more emphasis on. Lately I got in a discussion about why tattoos are wrong, but in that very same chapter (of Leviticus) it says not to wear clothing woven of 2 fabrics. I believe that everything in the Bible is true, however, I think some of it maybe was more cultural. And keep in mind that in the first century, men didn't wear pants, so I'm not exactly sure what "don't dress like a man" refers to.... The Lord looks at the heart and not the outward appearance (or apparel or hairstyles or jewelry etc). He looks at our lifestyles, and not if we strictly adhere to every word in the Bible. Jesus often criticized the pharisees because they were being too legalistic. They were missing the spirit... the whole point of it all... of God.

When Jesus was teaching His ministry, He gave basically a new set of rules. If you notice, the homosexuality is still an issue in the New Testament as well. Women wearing pants is not an issue. The most important was to love your neighbor as you love yourself. Basically, we need to stop worrying about the little stuff and be more concerned with the big stuff. Like, the way we talk to each other and the way we treat each other. God loves us all. We need to know though that there are some things that are not exceptable. I believe that if I was laying with another woman that would be wrong. I don't believe that the fact that I wear pants is wrong and that I won't go to heaven. You need to search your heart and find a good Bible study to find your answers. God Bless.

The Old Testament has expired with the start of the New Testament. This does not negative the Inspired quality of the OT. It just means that it should be read in light of the New Testament teachings. The Bible contains 46 OT Books, and 27 NT Books. Why? Because they are all still looked at. Granted, some more than others, but all are still relevant.

pal, I see no longer something incorrect IN ASKING THE question. This YA platform is to have interplay and to appreciate and study approximately different religions or different issues approximately which we've an interest and , we don't needless to say understand. There are 3 maximum conventional religions .a million.Sanatana Dharma (Hinduism) 2. Islam and 3. Christianity. of direction Buddhism has even have been given super following. The Sanatana Dharma ( hinduism) there NITYA and NAIMITTAKA KARMAAS. Sandhyaavandanam is a Nitya karma that shall no longer be stopped till at last the day of demise Then there are as in line with Tithi , Hindus have Naimittaka karmas .say Vinayaka chaturthi , Sarannavaraatrulu, Sree Rama navami etc .they're carried out on that distinctive day, Then Vratas and NOMULU , the girls do ( those are additionally naimittaka karmaas) Then there are different Rituals like yagna Yaagm and homam for the welfare of all in UNIVERSE. A temple in Hinduism is maximum mandatory.IT BELONGS TO ALL. At abode each and every Hindu does daily worship. further in Islam we be conscious human beings very devotedly going to the Mosque , and washing the arms , face , feet nostril etc in the previous going to do Namaaz. They do namaz three times . the girls positioned on Bur qua as in line with their custom and so we see the Muslims going to masjid frequently and fasting for a month in Ramzaan too. this style of obvious worship or pastime isn't seen in Christianity interior an identical scale. Their attendance each and every sunday in church , and praying in the previous taking foodstuff and in the previous going to sleep are carried out indoors. the ten commandments are there . In each and every faith there are some commandments .yet what share stick to them , we are in a position to no longer say. because of the fact the Christians have not got many gala's , whilst in comparison with different religions , there's a danger to think of they are much less religious. They too habit super congregations the place 1000's participate. So the Christian community too is amazingly plenty religious.

The Old Testament laws were for the Jews only, and absolutely no one else. Unfortunately, some people think they are rightous by trying to get back under the law, but they are wrong. Others just like to make life hard for people.
Jesus was the end of the law for "those who believe". We no longer need a set or "rules" to tell us when we are right or wrong. We have the Holy Spirit living within us to convict us of sin. The only law Christians are under is to spread the gospel message.

You have to look at that kind of stuff through a cultural perspective. Since the bible is written in different genres and different times, we need to take into consideration the historical and cultural perspective. It's not always about following the rules to the "T". Back then a woman would get in trouble for wearing pants, but that wasn't the point. It was cultural.

When those scriptures were written, people didn't wear pants like they do today. Men or women. Who decided that pants were just for men. Men did. That doesn't make it scriptural. Also, Christians don't live by laws since Jesus. People tried to live under law before Jesus and it didn't work. That's why Jesus had to come.
